First Question: I have seen in a couple of locations Sheldon H. Hadwin listed as the son of Anthony Hadwin. Do any of you have any idea if the initial "H" stands for Hansford? The death certificate of my gr-grandfather, John D. Hadwin, gives his father's name as Hansford Hadwin. I have been unable to find a Hansford Hadwin in any record. I thought maybe it was his middle name. Second Question: The death certificate of Nicholas Hadwin shows Piety Zorn as his mother. Based on the 1860 and 1870 censuses, cited below, it seems that Nicholas and Cornelius could be the same person. Do any of you know if Nicholas had a middle name? Cornelius, perhaps? 1860 Census Graham Post Office, Barnwell County, South Carolina, p. 381B (Image 88 of 340), 23 Aug 1860. Ancestry.com's census index has Piety's name recorded as Pritz Hadron.
