    3. Elaine, There are three wills listed in the Index for SC Will book,1670-1853: Frances VANCE- Charleston; Mary VANCE - Laurens and William VANCE - Charleston. I see a lot of VANCE names in the index of a Laurens will book, none in my will book for Spartanburg; have no books for Greenville. Do you have more information on this name that you would like to share? John - everyone has a John, but see no Abner or Matthew VANCE in my SC books. 3. Thanks for looking Audrey. It is hard to track, but Matthew did live in Greenville for at least 30 years and had 7 daughters according to the 1820 census. 3. Gosh, there sould be something on them. Laurens has more VANCE names in the index than other counties. Does anything look familiar in the notes sent a few minutes? 3. The names are used throughout VA, NC and SC . I am sure they are related somehow. Thanks again. 3. Elaine, Looked for your VANCE name in "A History of Richland County South Carolina", by Edwin L.Green. No VANCE, but in the section "Early Landowners" there is an entry on page 81 for "VANSER, Bartholomew (120; Feb. 12. 1770). On Congaree. John FRENCH, Robt. GOODWYN, Eliz. RICKER." May not be VANCE, but close enough to mention.
