    3. Hi Eldon, Thank you. This is a big puzzle for me and my family. Our ancestor who received a grant in 1790 has not been found on the REV war records. Neither are his grants found in the deed books of Edgefield. When he left the county he evidently walked off and left the land. He appears on the census, so we know he was there. About 4 years ago a lady who was very knowledgable about SC history was a guest on a talk radio genealogy program. I was able to talk to her and she told me the settlers paid "at least something" for the grants and she named the grants. If I could remember the name of the grants, I might be able to do some research on them. That's my blank wall. Any suggestions? From you or anyone back there in SC???. By the way my ancestor was Hugh Britt, SR. 3. Hi Joyce, Sorry for the late response but I have been out of town the last few days. If you are sure he received the grants then I would redo my research. Simple things like the spelling of a name happened very often. I would recheck and verify my data. If someone gave you info I would be particularly careful about validating that data. We humans sure can make mistakes.
