    1. [SC] Sarah Walker marriages???
    2. Lee and Billie Jones
    3. Dear Belinda and Dave, I was forwarded your messages about the Edward LARRIMORE/LARIMORE m Martha because it contained my keywords Edgefield and SC. I read over it and note a descrepancy in some of the info. and that which I have. You stated: Alford/Alfred McCARTY, born: April 22, 1791 in Edgefield County, South Carolina, died: November 1849 in Jasper County, Mississippi, and his wife, Sarah WALKER, born: 1795 in Edgefield County, South Carolina, died: 1877 in Jasper County, Mississippi, daughter of Samuel WALKER and Martha Jefferson BELL. The is confusion about the husband of Sarah Walker as listed in several Equity cases and wills. I have not seen the original yet, but have abstracts from : 1- Carol Wells, Genealogical Abstract of Edgefield Equity Court Records. Bowie, Maryland: Heritage Books, Inc., c. 2002, p. 67-68: Equity Case #99; 2- Edgefield Co., SC Wills 1787-1836 by James E. & Vivian Wooley, 1991 Historical Press, Will of Samuel Walker, Will Bk A, p. 325 /w/ 25 June 1810, /p/ 3 Oct. 1813. 3. Carol Wells, Genealogical Abstract of Edgefield Equity Court Records. Bowie, Maryland: Heritage Books, Inc., c. 2002, Equity Case # 136, Feb 10, 1820. >From these records we have concluded that Sarah Walker was married to Farrow Chaney. Sarah is listed as Sarah Farrow in Equity Case #99, deceased and leaving children and husband. (1821) She is listed as 'Sarah and Wm Mays' in suit # 136 10 February 1820, however Cheney Farrow is the one bringing the suit. As you will see from reading the following there does seem to be confusion. However, after studing all of these documents together , believe the following to be the family of Samuel Walker. Descendants of Samuel Walker [children listed in his will posted below] 1 Samuel WALKER b: Abt. 1750 d: November 08, 1813 in Abbeville Co, SC . +Martha Jefferson BELL b: November 16, 1751 in Albermarle, VA m: 1772 d: in Possibly AL. ..... 2 Martha Jefferson WALKER b: Bef. 1774 ......... +Sterling MITCHELL b: Bef. 1774 d: Aft. 1820 ..... 2 Anna WALKER ......... +William MAYS ..... 2 Sarah WALKER d: Bef. 1821 ......... +Chaney FARROW ..... 2 Rebecca WALKER ......... +James BEAMS/BEANS ..... 2 Rachel WALKER ......... +Hinchey MITCHELL ..... 2 Elizabeth WALKER ......... +Joseph Balus EDDINS ..... 2 Samuel WALKER ..... 2 Lucretia WALKER d: Bef. 1810 [not named in will, but Thomas is mentioned] ......... +Thomas HOLLOWAY b: Bet. 1740 - 1759 Father: George Holloway Mother: Elizabeth Bennett Primary researchers on this family were Judy Russell and Drew Welch. Edgefield County, South Carolina Wills 1787-1836. Greenville, SC: Southern Historical Press, Inc. c. 1991, p. 94 Will Bk A, p. 325 25 June 1810 I, Samuel Walker, desire that the whole of may estate both real and personal be kept in hands of my executor for five years and the profit applied to support of my family and the over plus to be applied to purchase of five negroes. One for daughter Sarah, another for Anna both between the ages of 16-20. And the other three to be about seven or eight years of age one for each of my grandchildren Martha, Samuel and Benjamin Holloway. Property bought at sale of Thomas Holloways to be divided among Martha, Samuel, and Benjamin Holloway under the control of my son Samuel until they are of age. Also, I desire the land I now live on to be equally divided among my daughters: RACHEL, MARTHA, SARAH, ELIZAGETH, REBECKER, and ANNA and my son SAMUEL to have a tract of pine wood joining his lands on the waters of Shaw Creek. The property first mentioned to remain in possession of my wife Martha during her life and then to be divided among daughters and Samuel. I desire that as THOMAS HOLLOWAY has left his children and made no provision for their support that my executors pay to him from my estate five shillings on his lawful application. I desire that the legacies given to my daughter Rebecca and her heirs be under the control of Samuel Walker and Samuel Marsh as her guardian owing to the supposed disability in the body and metal power of her husband James Beans. I appoint my wife Martha Walker as executrix and my son Samuel Walker and Sterling Mitchel and Joseph Eddings as executors. Wit: Samuel Marsh, John Ryan and James Head. Signed Saml. Walker. Proved by oath of Samuel March, 3 Oct. 1813. ________________ Earlier comments that were sent to me included: Edgefield Co. Bowie, Maryland: Heritage Books, Inc. c. 2002, p. 67-68 The following two equity cases involve the legatees of Samuel Walker. Much is gained on the relationships and marriages of the daughters. However, in these two legal documents, there is conflicting info. on the marriages of Daughters Anna and Sarah. Judy Russell responds to the above posting by Drew Welch: Equity case 99 and Edgefield Equity Case 136 involves the same family. Unfortunately, Edgefield Equity Case 136 has Sarah as the wife of Wm Mays (although the name is somewhat obscured in the crease), and Anna as the wife of Chaney Farrow. This is the reverse of what is listed in Case 99. One seems to be in error. Drew Welch sent the following information of her summary of Samuel Walkers will and info. from Annals of Edgefield Dist, #10, Dec 1989. See the Edgefield Co. SC Will of Samuel Walker, Will Bk A, p. 325 1810 and his estate records. Will signed 25 June 1810, proved June 1814. Will mentions Samuel, Martha and Benjamin Holloway, children of Thomas who deserted them. Edgefield Co. SC Probate Box 47, pkg 2015- grandson Benjamin Holloway and property I bought at Thomas Holloways, late to be divided. Thomas deserted children. (Samuel Walker had daughter Rebecca who married James Beams. Samuel Walker had married Martha Bell. Thomas Holloway married Lucretia Walker. Their son Samuel Holloway married Sophia Mitchell his lst cousin. Sophia Mitchell was daughter of Rachel Walker and Hinchey Mitchell. In 1836 Samuel and Sophia Holloway helped to found Little Sandy Baptist Church in Tuscaloos Co. AL. Earliest record of Samuel Holloway in Tuscaloosa is 1823 when he is charged with overseeing a road. He transferred his letter for the Salem Meeting House, Greene Co., Al to Gilgal Baptist Church on 7 Feb. 1829. Orphans Court Bk 9, p. 289 names his brother as William E. Holloway and sisters Agnes Davenport and Hannah Holloway. Xxx Martha J. Walker William B. Mayes. ________________ Atho there is room for thought on the husbands of Anna and Sarah, there is no mention of Alford/Alfred McCARTY. I hate to throw a monkey wrench into the connections you have made, as I have had the same thing happen. However, we all want our info. to be as accurate as possible. Several of us began this research because we are researching the Holloway line, and Thomas Holloway is listed in Samuel's Will as deserting his children after his wife died. If anyone has more info. on the family of Thomas and Lucretia, we would be very interested. 1 Lucretia WALKER d: Bef. 1810 . +Thomas HOLLOWAY b: Bet. 1740 - 1759 [ Father: George Holloway Mother: Elizabeth Bennett] ..... 2 Samuel HOLLOWAY ......... +Sophia MITCHELL b: 1800 Father: Hinchey Mitchell Mother: Rachel Walker ..... 2 Martha HOLLOWAY ..... 2 Benjamin HOLLOWAY I am not a member of the Walker list, so feel free to forward this on to others for feedback.
