Picture and announcement of 50th wedding anniversary. From Columbia, SC, Sunday Feb. 17, 1946 paper. The Rev. and Mrs. Henry Belle White, who celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversay Dec. 25 at their home near Saluda. Over 100 guests called. Mrs. White, the former Ardea Attaway was married to the Rev. Mr. White, Dec. 25, 1895. At the time of his marriage Mrs. White was not a minister, having been ordained at the age of 36. Before joining the ministry he was twice elected treasurer of the county. Courthouse officials and business places generally closed and were present at the ordination services in old Red Bank church, where the couple had been married. He has had continuous work and has served Rocky Creek Baptist church near the Saluda Edgefield Co. line for 28 yhears, and Steven Creek church in edgefield Co. for 30 years. The Rev. & Mrs. White are the parents of John H. White of Florence, R. Cooper White of Greenville, *Miss Muriel ("Dolly") White of Saluda, *Miss Leilah Mac White, a registered nurse, and a son and daughter who are deceased, *Hallette W. White who died in 1919 and *Miss Mary Bell White who died in 1932. Mrs. White, 78, of Saluda Dies - March 28 (Special) -- Mrs. H. B. White, 78, the former Miss R. D. Attaway, died at her home here at 9 o'clock Tuesday afternboon byt the Rev. T. E. Robinett assisted by the Rev. B.F. Carson. Burial will be in the church cem. Mrs. White had been a member of the Red Bank church for 66 years, and had taught Sunday School class for over 30 years. Survivors include her husband, the Rev. H. B. White; two daughters Miss Murial White and Miss Leilah Mae White, both of Saluda; two sons, Joe H. White of Florence and R. Cooper White of Greenville; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Miss Leilah Attaway of Saluda and Mrs. Cleo A. Ridgell of Batesburg. The family requests that flowers be omitted. Friends wishing to do so may contribute to a lasting memorial. No date is given on the obit. However, the following is copied from the Red Bank Cem. By todays standards, that is strange. I guess if he was splitting his time between the two church and traveled to them, possibly wives did not travel with their husbands.]
