DEAN, 84, DIES At Saluda (Special) Mrs. Mary Lee Dean, 84, died at her home Tuesday after several months of declining health. She was the daughter of James Jacob and Susanna Sligh Shumpert of Newberry. She had lived in Saluda for a number of years. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Luther Neil Bedenbaugh of Sliver Street; one sister, Mrs. B. B. Couch of Saluda; one brother, Duffie Shumpert of Newberry. Funeral Services will be held from Bethlehem Methodist Church at 5 pm Wednesday by the Rev. Vernon Jordan and the Rev. Julian Craig. Burial will be in the church cemetery. NOTE: The obit of James M. Dean, husband of Mary Lee Dean, died before she did. His obit does NOT mention the daughter. Could she have been married before and the Mrs. Luther Neil Bedenbaugh is her daughter by a prior marriage. It is known that James M. Dean was married before to Scythia BLEDSOE.
