Gail, Edward is correct, Gen Greene was from RI and I will look for my records on him. He was, as you've guessed, very well known. Yes Audrey we all know that but what do we all really know about the man himself. What I mean is this: We never see any mention of his parents, we never see any mention of his wife or his children. We always see he fought in this war or that, in this campaign or that. He was seen here or there but all of this was about the man's career and not his real life as a everyday human being. I mean he was a child at one time and had parents somewhere. I did get a short bit about his birth when and where, his wife his death and a lit of his children and where and where born and who they married but that was all. I still know nothing about his parents, siblings or grandparents. You see in my Greene line there was also a Nathanael Green in fact several of them, so I have often wondered if perhaps there was more than meets the eye there.
