    3. The following will of William Moore gives a lot of connections to the Butler family. I would be interested in clarification on this William Moore and who his parents or siblings are in order to place him in the correct family. He gives as his sister, Behathalin Butler. Behethelin Moore Butler's name seems to be spelled several different ways in the document. I have her as Behethland Foote Moore (1764 - 1853) , the wife of William Butler (1759-1821). [Source: Butler Family File of HC Ouzts] I have several other William Moores in my data, w/o dates or info. and wonder if this one might be one that I already have. Box 19 pkg 694 - /w/ Nov 2, 1818 EXTRACTED information: I, William Moore of Edgefield, planter, (.of Edgefield and SC.) Item 1 - give to my sister Behathalin Butler 28 Negroes 2nd - I give to my brother-in-law Maj. General William Butler one Negro man and my bay horse. 3rd to my nephew James Moore Butler 5 Negroes 4th to my nephew George Butler all that part of my present dwelling plantation that is situated below the Saluda Old Town Branch which runs into the River. Just below and near the flat landing which said part of my present dwelling plantation is bounded by the lands of Coleman, Blandon Patrick, Moses Walton, the said Saluda Old town branch and Saluda Rover. Also 7 slaves. 5th - to my nephew William Butler 7 slaves 6th to my nephew Francis Butler, 2 Negros and the sum of $1500 7th to my nephew Andrew Pickens Butler, that part of my dwelling plantation situated above he Saluda Old town branch be the same more or less bounded by Walton and Walter Abney, Saluda River and the said Branch which is to be he dividing line between the said Andrew Pickens and George Butler and six Negroes.. 8th - to my nephew Pierce Mayson Butler 7 slaves. 9th to my niece Emily Butler 5 Negroes 10th to my nephew Leantine Butler 4 Negroes, my black colt with a blaze on his face that came out of my little Bay mare. 11th to my half-brother Gibson Yarbrouch (sic), the 3 following tracts of land adjoining where he lives on Big Creek and the waters thereof: and upon his death to his son William Yarbrough. 12th to my niece Hariet Shankling the sum of $3000 to be paid to her in two annual installments , the first due 1 year after my death. 13th - to my niece Elizabeth Moore 4 Negroes 14th to Mary, a coloured girl one feather Bed and furniture 15th to Susannah a coloured girl on feather Bed and furniture. 16th to my nephew Francis Butler all that part of my lands situated on Big Creek and the waters there of this is to the northward and westward of a line commencing at the [lour] line of my said land and running up Big Creek to the mouth of a Dry [Drean] below a field cleared by W. Bufington, thence southward until the line extends opposite to the Head of a Hollow that was the dividing line between the lands I purchased of Lindsay Atkins/Akiser, then down said Hollow to Dry Creek and up Dry Creek to Grahams line. 17th to George Butler my [Cealer] horse bought of James M. Butler 18th to my sister Behalhalin Butler all my Beds and furniture 19th to Emily Butler my chest of drawers & Dressing glass. 20th to my nephew George Butler, the remaining part of my household and kitchen furniture that I have not given away. 21st It is my will that the lands that I posses and not heretofore given away, except the remaining part of the tract on Big Creek shall be equally divided between my sister Butler and my three nephews, William Butler, Pierce Mayson Butler, and Leantine Butler 22nd It is my will that my Executors after paying the two sums of money given away, what remains of the debts owed me and crop together with all the remaining be divided between my sister Behathalin Butler, my six nephews James M, George, William, Andrew Pickens, Pierce Mayson and Leantine Butler. 23rd And lastly I nominate my two nephews James Moore Butler and George Butler my Executors . Signed /s/ Nove 2, 1818. Witness Wm Abney, Moses (M ) his mark Walton, and/ Thos Anderson. His estate appraisal = $60,384.45, the majority of that value is found in the worth of his Negroes.
