Does anyone remember the naming conventions (prevailing in the 1820s) for daughters and sons? i. e. first son named after paternal grandfather, third daughter named after paternal grandmother, etc. (I know these are probably not right).     3. The Third child woud be named after the parent, the third daughter would normally be named after her Mother. Occassionally the third child would be named after the Mother's sister, especially if they were very close or if the aunt was ill or had recently died.
