However, the Richmond Co, GA area was also known as St. Paul Parrish as well in Colonial times. I cannot find a map that shows which other counties would be in there, but I have a notation in my Richmond Co., Ga census notebook about the St. Paul Parrish. And I acutally found Meggett SC on the SC highway map. It is a small town, about 6 miles east of Adams Run, which must be where the Camp was where William C. Puckett died. They are both located in the area where I described the SC St. Paul Parrish, in the western section of the present day Charleston Co, SC. They are about 18 (Meggett) and 20 (Adams Run) WSW of Charleston, the city. In 1800 it may very well have been in the Colleton Dist, formed in 1800 from a portion of the very large Old Charleston Dist. From this Colleton Co, Dorchester (1897) was formed, leaving only the strip near the coast as Charleston Co, but Meggett is definitely in Charleston Co. now. Of couse in the Propritary Couties , 1682 map, Colleton Co. runs from the coast to NC, parallel to the Granville Co. which included the strip of SC running parallel to the Savannah river, which included western Edgefield and Abbeville. I would assume that this is the area where your St. Paul's Parish Academy would be found. By the way, you would probably get more responses from the Edgefield list than Saluda. It is not real active. And since Saluda was a part of the Old Edgefield Dist until 1895, folks who work on Saluda, generally are on Edgefield list as well. Surely there is a Charleston list where you can post the query. I also subscribe to [email protected] as this list covers queries from all over SC. I throw away more than i use, but some folks don't know what counties to work on and are on this list. Billie
