My StewartŽs were certainly near many Cockerhams, as we had land in Henry CO VA, and there were Cockerhams in Henry, Franklin and Patrick CO VA. We also had land in Northern Surry CO NC, next to Moses Cockerhams land. Moses land was about 2 blocks from the VA line, I saw it last year. Then we have those Cockerhams in Wilkes Co NC, Daniel etc. Plus, we have 2 Wm CockerhamŽs that moved to the Buncombe, Macon CO NC area. One of the Wm Cockerhams in Buncombe/Macon was assoc. with the Jennings and Burch lines. Gail, no it doesn´t sound familiar , but Hezikah does. Wm Cockerham born ca. 1777, Halifax CO VA married Charity Jennings, dau. of James Jennings and Charity Burch, by 1801 and probably in Surry CO NC. Charity Burch was the dau. of John Burch JR and Charity Woodson of Cumberland CO VA. William Cockerham and wife Charity Jennings Cockerham , moved to what is now Haywood CO NC, died in Jackson CO NC ca. 1861. Among their children: Daniel Stewart, James, John Burch, Joel C, Elizabeth and Alfred Newton.
