This John is a brother to Robert Lankford who married Sybil Taylor who we assume is a sister to Elizabeth, however, i personally don't know for sure any of this. Robert was born abt 1756. my first guess is that Nathan who married Meron is their brother - but no proof. they supposedly had a brother named Nathan but it is said he was older than both John & Robert - an obit for John lists him as a REV vet - however, DAR Index: LANKFORD, John b 1758 NC d 1830 NC m Martha Whitehead Sol NC is this the same John? birth and death dates are correct - just wife is different. so who really was the John Lankford who died on Tryon Mountain married to?
