Richland County Library - Main Branch - Assembly Street - Columbia, SC has an index of most of the obits in the State newspaper from late 1800 to present day except from 1918 until late 1930s. The gap is due to the fact that these early newspapers did not list the obits in a column as they do now. At this time work is being down to complete the obits by reading the newspapers on microfilm and making an index. The staff in the library are most helpful.
