In trying to figure out more information about Frances Bullock, d/o David Cunningham Bullock and Artemesia Burnett, who is proported to have married a Whatley, I transcribed the following census records that jut don't seem to work, or prove what I have wrong. I am looking for this Fannie: 1 Frances 'Fannie' E. BULLOCK b: Abt. 1856 . +WHATLEY But I am not sure if she was a Whatley by marriage or by birth. I may be confusing two individuals ? 1- There is a Frances E. Whatley buried in Bullock-Whatley Cem. with dates that match this birthdate - Fannie E. Whatley, b. Jun 26 1856 d. Oct 6 1874 HC Ouzts identifies her as d/o Frances Parthenia BULLOCK & Perender Andrew (Perry) Whatley, and I confirmed a Frances with the 1860 census below. CENSUS: 1860 Edgefield Co, SC, Dorns Mill PO, p. 32, hh# 234/235 (living next door to his widowed mother Nancy H.[Holloway] Whatley -spelling used in transcription is Watley P.A. If so to whom? -------------------------------------------------- In checking this, I copied down two death cert. which were close to others I was looking for. They don't seem to work, for me, but I went ahead and posted here in case it will help someone else. 1917 - Death Cert. #23749, Greenwood Co, SC Leila Frances Whatley White, Female, marrital status not marked, age 67 b. Dec 8, 1917, Hodges, Greenwood Co, SC cause: influenze informant: J. R. Whatley, Greenwood buried: Andrew Chapel (Gr Co) UT: William Blanchard Co, Greenwood, SC Obviously she was NOT born in 1917 if she is 67 years old. Date of birth ca 1850, IF age is right. -------------------------------------------------------------- 1945 - Death Cert. #9691, Edgefield Co, SC Mrs. Frances E. (Duckie)] SEIGLER Aug 19 1867 Sep 1 1945 [self] Whatley, Charles Hammond Sep 20 1872 Dec 11 1927 [brother of husband] I posted the death cert. a M E. Whatley before that Dr. Connie McNeill identified his as "Edward Milledge Whatley, son of Edmund Meekins Whatley and Mary Gilliam Cook. Born 9 Jun 1868 and died 11 Apr 1931, buried at Mt Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with wife Frances Elizabeth Seigler. They were the parents of 6 children." I am posting it again since it goes with the above. However, note my concerns at the end. 1931 - Death Cert. # 6778 Mr. M. E. Whatley, white, Male, Married, farmer b. ____, SC Age 60 ? ? father: Edward Whatley mother: Mary Whatley d. April 11, 1931, SC State Hospital, Columbia, Richland Co, SC cause: chronic .... nephritis; arteroschlorosis; myocarditis; facial (erysepilas) Buried: Edgefield informant: SC State Hospital, Columbia, SC UT: J. S. Strom, Edgefield, SC Resident in city - 10 days. [Columbia Hospital I think] [There are just enough discrepancies in the names (Edward vs Edmond], [M.E. vs E. M.] that I feel more research is needed to prove these are the same individuals. Age at death was not given positively, but if he was close to 60, he would have been born in 1871. Census records for son of Edmond Meekins puts birthdate ca 1863. Billie Jones Camden, SC [email protected]
