TROTTER of Near Ward Passes Away - Special to the Saluda Standard. Ridge Springs, SC, Jan 10 --- John R. Trotter, 81, who died at the home of his son W. A. Trotter near Ward after an extended illness, funeral services were held from the Red Bank Baptist Church in Saluda at 3 o"clock Sat. afternoon, conducted by the Rev. Roy Durst, assisted by the Rev. H. B. White, and the Rev. T. E. Robinett, pastor of the Red Bank Baptist church of Saluda. Interment was in the Red Bank Cem. Mr. Trotter was a good Christian gentleman and ever ready to do what was right and honest in helping the community in which he lifed. He was a good husband and father and leaves a host of relatives and friends to mourn his passing. Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Annie Rodgers of Ward; one brother, Ike Trotter of Ward; five daughters: Mrs. J. D. Rushton of Johnston, Mrs. Otton Styion (sic) of Saluda, Mr. M. B. Storey of Ward, and Mrs. R. L. Monach of Prichard, AL; seven sons: Ernest and W. A. Trotter of Ward; John and Ira Trotter of Columbia; Hammond Trotter of Trenton; George Trotter of Saluda, and Carl Trotter of Ridge Springs; 57 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Mr. Trotters grandsons served as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Richland Church Men's Bible Class and Dr. Brice Jordan, F. C. Kreps, D. C. Bomar, Archie Jones, Eugene Black, Barney Chapman, Phil Yatson and Maynard Watson. The large gathering of friends and loved ones and the beautiful flowers was an evidence of the love and esteem in which Mr. Trotter was held. No dates are given with the newspaper article, but cem. Rushton of Johnston, Mrs. Anna Bell Styne (Styron) of Ninety-Six, Mrs. Eula Storey of Grovetown, GA, and Mrs. Ceo Monardi of Sanford FL.; seven sons, Ernest Trotter and W. A. His own obit was also included as follows, date and name of newspaper unknown. There is E. B. Trotter and E. E. Trotter info. that seems to be the same person. E. E. Trotter - Ward Resident, 58, died, Rites from Red Hill Baptist Church Saluda, Jan 23 (special) - Ernest E. Trotter, 58, died early this morning at his home at Ward, after an illness of three days. He was a native of Ward township all his life and was a member of Ridgeland Springs Baptist church. Funeral services will be held at 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon from Red Bank Baptist Church....Interment will follow in Red Bank Cem. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Leona R. Trotter; three daughters, Mrs. Conrad Banks of Saluda, Mrs. Platts of Ridge Spring and mrs. marion Reams of Johnston; four sons, Truman and Hayward Trotter of Saluda, and Billy and Ansel Trotter of Ward; five brothers, John and Ira Trotter of Columbia, Hammond Trotter of Trenton, George Trotter of Johnston and Carl Trotter of Ridge Spring, and five sisters, Mrs. Eugene Becknell of Pomaria, Mrs. Myrice Rushton of Johnston, Mrs. Buster Story of Ward, Mrs. Otto Styron of Saluda, and Mars. Trotter Infant Died in Hospital - The infant daugther of Mr. & Mrs. Truman Trotter of Saluda died Saturday at the Baptist Hospital. Graveside services were held Saturday afternoon at Red Bank Baptist Church Cem.... Survivors include the mother and father; one sister, Suzanne, the paternal grandmother, Mrs. E. B. Trotter of Ward, and the maternal grandfather, Ed. Dorn of Saluda. Mrs. Trotter is the former Arzelle Dorn of Saluda. The Red Bank Church cem. contains the grave of Daughter Trotter, Jun 21 1958 - Jun 21 1958. HC calls her Phyllis? She may be this daughter, but I have no real proof of that since the obits don't give dates.
