    3. Beth I'm not sure, but I think that the house had been sold out of the family by the early '50s. My father owned the land across Martintown Road from the house and cemetary (he also built Smithfield in 1950's) and we lived right across from the house. I know it was divided up into apartments by then, as one of my best friends lived there, but no Hammonds to my knowledge. My high school algebra teacher, Marguerite Hammond, lived in the modest house on the OTHER side of the cemetary, though...
