    3. The Camden Archives and Museum, Camden SC has microfilm of the old newspapers. it also has all of the SC death certificates, all but the 1830 census for the entire state, ( will have that, but not yet), Mortality census records, houses the SCDAR Library collection with books put out by many chapters all over the state, plus purchased books of deeds, wills, cemetery, marriage, etc books. I do most of my research there, and I am an Edgefield Co. researcher. I go to the State Archives for copies of probate records. They have church records etc of churches in Kershaw Co. and lots of books, vertical files of family records, and a FTM program containing over 100,000 names that have been donated by various families, and research of others. The best newspaper collection I believe is at the Caroliniana Library on the campus of Univ. of SC in Columbia. Good luck, and come visit Camden. 3. Wow Billy, that was some great information about Camden and being able to do a lot of research there. I live near the Va. line but once in a blue moon we do make the treck to Myrtle Beach. Sounds like we will have to add an extra day so we can stop in Camden :-) Jane ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lee and Billie Jones" <tjones@camden.net> To: <SC-Genealogy-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, May 28, 2002 2:17 PM Subject: Re: [SC] Newspaper microfilm > The Camden Archives and Museum, Camden SC has microfilm of the old > newspapers. it also has all of the SC death certificates, all but the 1830 > census for the entire state, ( will have that, but not yet), Mortality > census records, houses the SCDAR Library collection with books put out by > many chapters all over the state, plus purchased books of deeds, wills, > cemetery, marriage, etc books.
