    3. Yes, but it is alphabetical BY COUNTY. Microfilmed indexes on each county are alphabetical. They include all Probate records - wills and administrations of intestate estates. I work a lot at the State Archives, and there is a county index of wills and adm. on microfilm for each county. Many folks did not leave wills, so the administration is very important to determine the legatees, etc. Then there is a book to look up what microfilm That particular Box and Package # is located on, and what ID number it has at the state archives. There are also actual will books located in the counties, that will give you the will only. I find the microfilmed records which includes the accounting, payments, persons who bought at estate sales, legatees and what they received, etc much more helpful than just the will. There are a couple of books I have used for Edgefield Co., and I would suppose there might be others for other counties. Edgefield Co., SC Wills 1787-1836 by James E. & Vivian Wooley, 1991 Historical Press, Inc 275 West Broad Street Greenville, SC 29601 Edgefield County Marriages 1769-1880 Implied in Edgefield County South Carolina Probate Records, Barbara R. Langdon gives marriages implied in Probate records so lists Box and package # for many Probate records in SC. But I have never seen a book that is for all SC wills in all counties. That would be a massive book! Billie Jones Camden, SC tjones@camden.net
