    3. Mary, This appears to be our line except you seem to have the brother (James BARNES) of John BARNES who m. Ann JONES. Ours is John BARNES.. You would have the POPE line instead of JONES. So, you are saying that the Jacob Junius BARNES line goes into I.O.W., VA to Edward BARNES-James BARNES- Thomas BARNES...? This is pretty exciting because I only had a note stating that Jacob Junius BARNES line was from I.O.W., VA. Do you have the POPE line in a comprehensive program? I've done some work on POPE also. 3. Hi Eddie, No, that's OK about the GED; am curious when, and if, people are finding their ancestors when I post records. We have so many names in the South between my husband's and my mother's. The only one is my father's German line from the Midwest. Thanks you for the kind words. I do have a WOODS line from VA, Hugh WOODS of Orange Co, NC is one of Mom's lines. Hi Audrey, Not sure if we've connected in the past, but I thank you for all of your efforts in genealogy... I always scan your messages for any familiar names! In response to your comment above... my family, MALPHRUS / MALPAS et. al. followed the path you mention. Our family record traces them as coming to the US in Virginia (Nansemond, I believe) and settling in the South Carolina Lowcountry (Ridgeland/Beaufort area). Our oldest person on record is around 1682, I think. All of my paperwork is tucked away, but the Malphrus tree is online on Ancestry.com I believe. I will send you more details off-list with your permission. Thanks for your inquiry, Robt E. Barnes PS: Other names I'm interested in include SPARKS; DOVER; GANN; GREEN; HUNT; SEARCY; WISEMAN; EGGERS; COFFMAN; et al. I am also interested in HAMLETT; COGDELL et al as possibly being related to my BARNES line but this is almost entirely conjectural. If however, I can tie-in to the HAMLETT's and COGDELL's, I think I will have finally gotten past my BARNES reinforced concrete wall.
