Also some of the wills have been sent to Raleigh to the State Archives. Hope to make a trip there this summer. There is a Sherrod/Sherred/Shurwood Barnes in the Census' of Darlington & Sumter Counties of 1810,30,40,60. Since his oldest son is named Junuis Ethalbert Sherrod--must be a family connection somewhere. Another theory is J.J.>Allen Barnes>Jacob Barnes, B1770, >Jesse Whitley Barnes, B 1740. 3. Excuse me, but isn't that the purpose of having a list. When we go off the list to personal correspondence, there are many who will not have the benefit of picking up on that one little clue that can break down a brick wall. 2. I respectfully disagree. The kind of exchanges between Audrey and folks she helps, with a little vice versa now and then, are often useful to me. I sure hope we can continue to see them. Since lists are archived and inter personal emails aren't, there is the advantage ... often years later... of being able to search or browse the list and have something most useful pop up. I have noticed, without much scientific experimenting, that my DELETE button works with either finger on either hand and can dispose of incoming email I don't want to read before I open it. -----Original Message----- >From: Lee and Billie Jones <tjones@camden.net> >Sent: Mar 9, 2006 7:08 PM >To: SC-Genealogy-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [SC] Re: Message to Audrey from everyone. > >When answering Audreys offer to help, wouldn't it be better to respond to her >personally. 3. Paula, Thanks so much for getting in touch with me. I've known of that family for many years, but just haven't done anything about it. You can see the POOLS in the data. John Altman POOL and Tennesse STROUD are my husband's great grandparents. I am also working on the Edgecombe Co, NC wills now and one of them may be J. J. BARNES' father. For sure, there are Jacobs. Mention is made of land in Nash Co, NC; have will books for this county also and will see what is there when I finish with the wills in E. County. Because that is not our direct line, but two of my husband's "cousins" married into the family, I want to contact someone who does have a direct line through this family...if I can find her. She can only go to J. J. BARNES.
