From a DAR records at the Camden Archives the following were given as children of Solomon Pope and his wife Susannah Dawkins. [Problem - wife was not named in his will, but the info. I have from the DAR records has her death date AFTER his??? Below is what I have on this family. Names are now connected thru the will, but other info. has not been verified with other records. In the Will of Solomon Pope, John Pope Adm. Box 43, Edgefield co., SC, Jan 5, 1795, there were some names in a blacked out area that I could not read. Therefore, I have not yet verified Henry or Patience as children of Solomon. The Original will in Edgefield may be readable, but the microfilm was not. Hi Audrey! Thanks for the info. I did not have that. I have not followed up on the Poole line as of yet, but am trying to!!! I have too much to do on my own lines <grin>. I have a friend of mine who is a Poole from around Myrtle Beach, but she was adopted by a Poole family. They may be some of your Poole's and if you wish, I could ask about them. Did you want any of Hannah Poole Coachman's descendants? I have a few of them in my database down to my son. Also, some notes on some of them that I have found and also that another Coachman researcher has sent me. Let me know and thanks again! I really appreciate you looking this up for me. Also, appreciate the fact that you do so many lookups for others on the various lists. It is folks like you that make genealogy so interesting!!! It takes a dedicated person to do that and if I can ever help you in any way, please let me know, okay? Do NOT hesitate to ask!!!!! Patricia A. I would like to welcome those of you new to this site and tell you there are some really great folks who are willing to help just for the asking. I, myself do Volunteer research at Andersonville Civil War Prison in Andersonville Georgia. Any research I do is absolutely at NO cost and I am willing to do what I can. My sources are the following....... There are 2 online databases to do lookups.....One by name...one by Company and Regiment. I also have a copy of the Dorence Atwater Death list which has the names and grave numbers of some 13000 graves with only 460 marked as " UNKNOWN " This along with a CD I have which contains 34,000 names of the 45,000 who were imprisoned there which helps me find prisoner records because of misspellings of the names or alternate names. I visit the prison site every couple of weeks and have access to the onsite databases as well as the physical files. I would like to let you know of another service I offer which is to take photos of graves for a small fee. .I also wish to thank the patience of those regular subscribers for my frequent postings. If there is anything I can do in helping your research at Andersonville, please just ask. Audrey: I should have said, I don't think this is that same man but giving the fact that the one I found was rather old I think about 68 or so at the time of the 1850 I believe he could have been a son to this man that you have here, this is why I ask. I am hoping to find out maybe from a White Researcher where this line went to later on down the line. Gail
Audrey: Who is the John White who was the witness here. In Benton Co. AL I have located a John White and wife Rachel who were the parents of Mary Ann White who married the next year my Edward A. Cothran nicknamed JUDGE. That US Census record was for the year 1850. According to that Census John White was born in SC and so was his wife Rachel and daughter Mary Ann White. Mary Ann was 21 that year. I believe he then may have left the state and went into AR into a place called Hamburg in Ashley Co. So do you have any idea as to who John White may have been? Gail
Thanks. Yes, most of those early GA and AL families were from SC. STROUD came out of VA into the Carolinas, but so did a lot of others. Hi, Did you receive what I sent? Or, I think I did. We don't have the COACHMAN line, and I really don't think that POOLE line is ours. Sometimes I can see something in all POOL(E) families that make them appear to be part of our family, but now have decided if HOLLOWAY doesn't show up, they aren't mine. It took me a long time to come to this, but now that I know a lot more about them, they did the same thing a lot of those early families did. Intermarried over and over, cousins, etc. Thanks so much for the offer. They is a man in Canada who has that POOLE/COACHMAN lineage. Calling all Rice Family researchers. I just want to let youknow about the Rice Family Books available through a new website <A HREF="http://www.ricefamilybooks.com/"> http://www.ricefamilybooks.com</A>.They’re full of information on all of the Rice families in America. – Sue
I know that there is a history of Horry Co.; it is sold at the local Barnes & Noble Booksellers, but I can't remember the exact name of it. I'm sure you could call the store in Myrtle Beach and ask. They are always very helpful! Unfortunately, I copied the address from the address box above the census info and now when I type it in I receive the message "Page Cannot Be Displayed". Unfortunately, I now realize I should have copied the rootsweb address at the bottom of the message someone had posted through SC-Genealogy. I hope someone can help me because it was a wonderful source of census and pension info for the early 1800s for SC. Can anyone answer this question for me? I know that Horry Co. was at one time part of Georgetown District. I found my gggrandfather listed under All Saints Parish in the Georgetown Dist. Could this be the same area as the Good Hope area of Conway now?
