I apologize to those who will see this more than once, but I am cross-posting. I am looking for ''someplace'' to purchase the 1790 Census for the entire state of SC. I want the transcribed and indexed version in hardback. I have what is left of one, but I have discovered that it is missing some sections, and is beginning to fall apart. I do a lot of lookups in my books for folks, and really need a new one from somewhere. Thank you. Bill
Hi Patricia, Thanks for your offer of info on Malinda Caroline Robertson and Andrew Jackson Chappell. I would love to have the info! My gggrandmother was Catherine Chappell who married Samuel Whitson born 1818 in Green County AL. Catherine and Samuel lived in Fayette County AL. Catherine is the daughter of Miles Chappell born Amelia County VA and Priscilla Parker. My grandmother Ella Whitson Randolph is the granddaughter of Catherine Chappell. Ella married John Samuel Gant, grandson of the John Gant who I believe descends from Almon and Nancy Bramblett Gant. This may be still another Gant/Bramlett/Robertson/Chappell connection! If anyone has the 1900 Census for Lancaster County, would you please check it for the family of David Ferdinand HILTON, his wife Allie and their children. They were probably in either Flat Creek or White Bluff. Have a great day. Bill
Tolaver Robertsons booklet on marriages, is divided into two sections. The marriages listed in the front part all have dates. The section in the back has no dates. One description of an Allison marirage tells all about the wedding party. No dates for the following: A Matilda Knight married a James Cargile and a John Gant. It shows Allen Gant married Elizabeth Garrett. John Gant married Matilda Knight Charner Knight m Miss Davis Thomas Knight m Rachel Cargile Several more Knight marriages. Those are the only Gant marriages. Going out of town. Will volunteer to do lookups next week. Please do not send any requests until then. THanks. Lynda

Hi Sara, Thank you for the information you posted on the Tolliver Robertson family. I had been trying to research his family because my gggrandfather is John Gant born abt 1810 in SC, and he may be the John Gant, son of Almon and Nancy Bramlett Gant of Laurens SC, who married Lucy Robertson. There is later information that Tolliver Robertson performed the marriage of John Gant and Matilda Knight probably before 1842. I wonder if Lucy Robertson was John's first wife and Matilda was the second wife. John and Matilda Knight Gant are my gggrandparents according to death records of three of their children and other family records. The John Gant family moved from SC to Georgia and then to Jefferson County, Alabama by 1860. I noted that several of Manoah Robertson's descendants lived and died in Bessemer, Alabama. I live in Bessemer, Alabama (near Birmingham). Do you have anything more on Lucy Robertson or John Gant or Matilda Knight? Sarah Latham Barry
It sounds like you have bold as a default font. Click Format, font. Then select the font face you want and be sure that the Bold box does not have a check in it; then click on default font. That will change your default to a non-bold font. Hi, My guess is that the default font has been set to bold. To change this choose Format from the menu at the top and then choose Font. When the font box opens there is probably a check in the box marked Bold. Removing the check from the Bold box will only change it for that particular sheet. To change it so all new sheets will not be bold you must change the default font. To do this open the Font window, make sure the Bold box is not checked, and then click on the Settings button at the bottom and select "Set face and point size as default for all documents". I hope this helps. Ralph, I am sending you a pretty good size package in the morning(Thursday,16th). Most of it will be interesting reading and a lot of it won't be pertinent to Robert. He is very hard to find. Ann's mother was Mary Ann Dreher Kinsler Friday. I did find Robert listed in Fairfield Cty., SC in the 1790 census on page 22. He had one male including head of the household, one female 16+ and 2 females under 16. Also recorded in this same census were: Moses(3-1-3); Samuel(1-4-6) and Tomas(1-5-3). In the 1810 census I found Robert on pg. 74 Columbia Cty(first that I had seen Columbia listed as a Cty.)on pg. 74 and Moses on page 171. The cesus records were on some old GRS census disk from 1790-1870. They could not be used on my new computer so I had to borrow an old one to pick the information up. The things that I am sending have come from various sources and each are documented. You may put whatever you think would be of interest on the web. I still have a couple of places to look and if I find anything significant I will send it on. You don't owe anything for the material I am sending. Sharing is what we are all about. Keep searching and good luck, Anne

Anne, I have some notes of Robert DUKES of Northampton Co, NC that appears to be related to the Robert DUKE family that went to AL. Moses DUKE is listed with records in AL that includes our families. Will share if anyone is interested. However, I have shared these notes with Joe Duke. We use WORDPERFECT as our word processor. Something has happened that automatically turned on the BOLD print. The little box on the tool bar, BOLD, is not pushed in. The printer just constantly prints everything in BOLD, thus using up an ink cartridge in a hurry. We can get rid of the BOLD type by clicking on FORMAT and then FONT. We can then change the STYLE from BOLD to NORMAL, and the print will be normal. But as soon as we call up another blank page to type something else, the cussed thing has reverted back to BOLD. We must have used gallons of ink during this torture period. The book WORDPERFECT FOR DUMMIES doesn't seem to address this issue. Gratefully Born fifty years too soon for a computer.

Hi, I called the Camden Archives and talked to one of the directors there, and she stated that Sand Hill Church Cem. is located on Hwy 341 out of Kershaw, SC. Kershaw is now in Lancaster Co., SC so the cem. is there. I asked about a cem. book, and she said that the two Lancaster Co. cem books have not gotten to the "S" names, but that there is a book on the Sand Hill History and the author put the cem. survey info. in that book. For more information, contact: Carol McNaughton, Camden Archives and Museum, 1314 Broad St., Camden, SC 29020 (803-425-6050) Web site: www.mindspring.com/~camdenarchives/index.html Carol works Wed. - Fri 8 - 5 EDST. She lives in Kershaw. If you are interested in researching the area, the Camden ARchives is the place to go. It has: * all SC county census data 1790 - 1820. Will be getting 1830, but not here yet. * SC death certificate (microfilm) thru 1949 (same as STate archives) * mortality schedules and agricultural census data *Cemetery books from all over the state *Many of Brent Holcombs books and other books on marriages, court records, etc. *Section on other States. ***Home of the SCDAR Library and the Colonial Dames 18th Cen. collections. Come visit Camden, with all its old historical homes, the Battle of Camden Revolutionary Park, the Cornwallis House, where Lord Cornwallis had his headquarters.
