    3. Hi, Audrey; no, my Snipes line did, we believe, migrate from VA (and Barbados, before that). This Maine branch apparently came from somewhere else, probably directly from England. We have not been able to connect them to our line. Note that they spell their name, "Snipe", consistantly. We are no doubt connected in the "old country". 3. Hi, Jane; no, that's all I have for William Butler, except for this note: "See Letter Footnotes, The Georgetown Tide, Vol. 13, No. 5" All of the Butler information came from a researcher unknown to me, but he included some Snipe information, so I kept the entire file. 2. I have noticed lately that there have been a lot of inquires about Tolberts and Talbots. This afternoon I will be seeing a lady who was married to a Bob Talbot of Edgefield. Altho Bob is deceased now, she may know some of the genealogy of the Talbot family who were from Edgefield. If there are any interested who see this message will let me know right away I will ask her about them. Helen Lane in Aiken, SC

    3. Beth I'm not sure, but I think that the house had been sold out of the family by the early '50s. My father owned the land across Martintown Road from the house and cemetary (he also built Smithfield in 1950's) and we lived right across from the house. I know it was divided up into apartments by then, as one of my best friends lived there, but no Hammonds to my knowledge. My high school algebra teacher, Marguerite Hammond, lived in the modest house on the OTHER side of the cemetary, though... 3. Audrey, You said there are several Rogers wills in the book. Do you have any for Mary Rogers ? She was born in 1838. No death date know. William Rogers born 1841 (no death date known) These were children of Ebenezer Rogers that I didn't know about until recently. I realize that not having a date of death makes it even harder to locate and I apologize. If you can't find anything, it's ok :-) I assume they are from the Marion/Dillon, SC area like their father. 3. Morning Audrey, You are right about the Butlers coming from Isle of Wight, Va. ( mine did). I have only been able to trace back to Robert Butler that is buried in Liberty, NC. He was born 7/16/1788 and died 7/7/1851. He was married to a woman named Julia/Julie/Jule ? in 1816. She was born in 1792 and died around 1860. They had 13 children that I know of. Hickmond Butler 5/27/1817-10/4/1890 James Butler born 1819-8/5/1902 Sarah Butler born 1821 Mary Butler born 1823 Margaret Butler born 1825 John Butler born 6/22/1826-7/21/1854 Jessie Simmons Butler 11/7/1828- Unity Butler born 1830 Harmon Butler born 1837 Ann Butler born 1837 Robert Butler Jr. born 1839 Jefferson Butler born 1/4/?-9/12/1914 Rebecca Butler born 1848 Hickmond Butler is the line I descend from (first child listed). I have a list of his children and a little more information on them if anyone is interested. Jane ----- Original Message ----- From: "Audrey E.
