    1. [SC] Vaughn/Vaughan
    2. Searching for the parents of James Vaughn b. abt 1762 in SC. Do not know the town. He married a Jane about 1785. They had two sons in SC. John b. 9 Sep 1786 and George b. 18 Aug 1790. Rumor is, that the Vaugh(a)n's originated from Wales. We have no proof of this at this time. By 1805 John was married and in TN. By 1808 George was married and in TN. By 1820 James had remarried a Susannah and was in Miss. So that puts James in SC from about 1762 to about 1790. Hopefully someone may have a few answers to knock down this block wall. Any help would be so wonderful. Thank you, Sincerely, DeLories Vaughn Washington State

    3. Hoping to research my great grandmother- Sarah Helen Griffin.B: 1855 Found her 1872 May 15 Marriage record in Toronto, Canada. States her parents were George & Maryann Griffin, she was of Irish descent born in SC. The 1901 Census gave her birth date and year she immigrated to Ontario as 1863. Family oral history reports, she was living on a plantation on the outskirts of Atlanta when it was ransacked. Her father fought and was killed in the Civil war her Mother died soon after that of Typhoid. Cannot find any threads connecting this family. Any assistance would be helpful. There are too many George Griffins in the civil war files to know which one is the right one. Kathy Hodson

    3. VAUGHAN is a VA name, specifically in Southside VA very early. There are no VAUGHANS in Immigrants to SC, 1760-1770, and I am guessing they are part of the VAUGHAN family that migrated from VA. Has anyone else contacted you about the above statement, and where they were before SC? 3. Some branches of my Colemans went to Fairfield Co SC (came from VA) when a number of other families migrated (Meadors, Moberley, Beam, etc). There must have been a large migration at the time. 3. Dorothy..I checked book "SC Marriages 1800-1820" and no Garner's listed. SC did not legally require marriage or death certificates until 1915...but the churches/parishes along the coast kept records earlier than that. Usually I find them in wills of the wife's father naming her & her husband. My grandparents married around 1910...but can't find anything abt them. 3. Hi Audrey, Maybe the given name of Edward is only common in one line of WADEs. There are at least nine Edward(s) in the line I am chasing.
