    3. If at first you don't succeed ---- be sure to try something else! http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ This should take you to genweb archives. States are listed in alphabetical order. Scroll down to Virginia. The VA page will show counties. Choose Lunenburg. On the Lunenburg list, choose court records: Public Claims. Hope this works for you. ================================ email screened by Norton AntiVirus 2002 ================================

In the 1920 census, there is an entire family of Snipes children, Leona, Sally, John, and Leo Snipes, living in the household of Plummer Curry. I don't know anything about the Currys, but I assume they had some relationship with the Snipes family in Laurens, and I would be grateful if you could provide any information on Plummer Curry or his family. 3. Thanks, Audrey, The long list of names is helpful to many of us who have VA ancestry. My Lunenburg ancestors include Ragsdale and Jones, with both names appearing on the list. Actually, 3 separate Thomas Joneses appear, and two of those are mine -- a father and son. Another list of Rev War participants -- non-military-- is found at this site: (Hope I typed it correctly) ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/VA/lunenburg/court/lune1780.txt It is quite interesting to read the list of supplies and war materiel furnished by the public. Sometimes the citizens gave or sold willingly to the military; at other times, necessities were taken by the military, with promise of return or payment at a later date. Regardless of how they aided the war effort, all those on the list will qualify descendants for NSDAR, CAR, SAR etc. ================================ email screened by Norton AntiVirus 2002 ================================

I must apologize for not letting folks know I would be gone for a few days this weed after posting the offer for the above record of men who served under WASHINGTON. Because of the many requests I am posting to the list, but also made the offer to the Edgefield List and hope this covers both. Please note the quotations marks at the beginning; they are of the same source, not my own notations. I have marked names most often associated with our families. Examples: 1. CALDWELL-RITCHEY-RODGERS...seen in SC later. 2. POOLE m. HOLLOWAY...seen in SC later Sincerely, Audrey Source: The Old Free State (Lunenburg County, VA), The French and Indian Wars "It is quite impossible to rescue the names even of all the soldiers of Lunenburg who participated in the various military activities beginning with WASHINGTONS expedition to the Ohio, in 1754, and ending with the defeat of the Indians at Point Pleasant, October 19, 1774, much less to indicate with any degree of certainty the specific service rendered by any great number of them.
