    3. Mollie, South Carolina Joneses are indeed ubiquitous! I am fortunate (?) to have 3 ancestral lines of JONES from SC: Rev War soldier Charles S. Jones lived in both Edgefield and Laurens Counties for a time; died 1822. His parents, Thomas Jones and Leeana [nee Jones] Jones, both born in VA but came to Edgefield Co SC about the time of the Rev War, account for two distinct Jones progenitors -- his and hers. My third line is Josiah Jones ca 1770 possibly a son of William Jones, saddler, and his wife Rebecca, who lived in Orangeburgh/Barnwell during the Rev War and up until about 1805 or so. Josiah with his family moved to Clarke Co. AL ca 1806 - 1808, leaving a number of descendants there. It is likely that he had brothers John., Nathaniel, and William who also moved westward around 1810. I do not know where they went from SC. In which Arkansas county have you found your Joneses? The 1830 AR census is rife with Joneses. Many Jones families had sons and grandsons named William and John, but not so many named Jacob and Lewis. If you can specify a county [and census year] where you have found your Jones men, I will take a quick look at some of my records to see whether anything rings a bell. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mollie Molnar" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, September 05, 2004 6:25 AM Subject: [SC] Jones, Tapp, Starnes

    3. Thanks for the information about the Starnes in S.C., I always appreciate it when someone takes the time to share. I'll file it with my family of that name. I'm pretty well documented with that family, joined a historical society through Charles Stearns and it took a great deal of time but was good for me. I believe in establishing as much history about family as I can. In that list that you sent, I have both the names Ebenezer and Aaron, you can almost trace the family through repeated names of Moses, Shubael, Ebenezer, Aaron, etc. Unfortunately, they often named their sons for a brother. I had not expected to research Jones but after I got a couple of "hits" on information, I'm in the race to find them. 3. Do you know how to look on Ancestry.com? If so type in James F. Graham their son, and you will find the names of their other children. Even if you don't have a subscription to this site you can still get some info. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, August 26, 2004 1:39 PM Subject: [SC] Request: Looking for FORTENBERRY born in S.C. > Jack, > I have been trying to find out something about my Sarah FORTENBERRY for > years.
