Darlene, I found a Woody Webber in KY in the 1992-2002 Phone Directory with spouse Joyce. It has him living there from 2000-2002. Middlesboro, KY to be exact. -----Original Message----- From: Darlene Webber Fields [mailto:scfieldsofdreams@bellsouth.net] Sent: Friday, January 27, 2006 10:05 PM To: SC-Genealogy-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [SC] Looking for Family Chandler, Thank You for replying. But the info you have found is my father's info. The Norwood Harris Webber, Jr. (Woody) is probably not in SC. I was young when he would come around. So I never knew the whole story. I know he had an argument with his father 20+ yrs. It always seemed to me that he just moved around. I don't know why even at 39 yrs my uncle never would tell me and well I can't get anymore now for sure. The out come is grave. If this helps anyone he had been in Canada, Germany, NC, TN, KY, Washington state. He also supposely was in some type of military, but I was told he deserted. With my medical problems, my money resources are very limited, especially with 4 kids under 10. That is why I was hoping that the boards could help, with others that do have resources already. The only other thing I have is pictures of Woody in high school. But new at the boards I don't know if that would post. I have found one in Ky, but not him. Also it was here say but that he went to (Rev) Jim Jones house site (not sure what it was called) Find anything please let me know. Hello to all who responded to the TAYLOR and associated familes. Thank you. If the "History of Richland Families" is documented fact, that is a lot of information, and much appreciated. I even saw some of our own families there. My reason for working on these families has to do with documentation (wills and deeds). So many histories do not give these valuable source. I did see a few deeds at the bottom of the History of Richland Families. Also, I've worked more in VA than in SC, but have roots in both states, as well as states in between and after SC. It has been an effort of many years to tie as many VA families to SC, but through deeds and wills. Our own POOL family is so incorrect on the Internet that I quit trying to tell people I had the record in hand. Hence, when you see wills and deeds here in SC, you will know I am simply clarifying existing records someone has put together, and many times, very well. I also was asked if I knew more about the deeds of the TAYLOR family that settled in SC. The MYRICK family is a well-known family of Surry and Brunswick Counties, VA and is seen often on wills and deeds of same. Indirectly, MYRICK and HOLLOWAY families connect; HOLLOWAY is ours. But, TAYLORS married into our family lines as well. Thanks again for your help. Audrey
I thought I would share these two records...just in case someone is working on the families seen here. Audrey Source: South Carolina Deed Abstracts, 1719-1772, VOL II, 1740-1755, Books V-P-P abstracted by Clara A. Langley " Book 0-0, p. 697 10 Jan 1754 L & R James (his mark) WESTON*, planter, & Elizabeth his wife, to THOMAS POWELL, planter, both of Craven Co., for L 200 currency, 100 a. on N side Congaree River, bounding SW & NW on vacant land & on 'old lines' & on Vinson SIMMONS; NE & SE on vacant land; as by grant from Gov. James GLEN in Council Chamber 8 Aug 1753. Wit: JAMES DANIELL, Charles STROTHER*, John ALYNK (MYRICK*?). Before Stephen CREEL, J. P. William HOPTON, Register." *Note by Audrey: These three surnames/families are all early VA families. 1. MYRICK (see next record) is a Surry and Brunswick Co, VA family. 2. WESTON is an Isle of Wight Co, VA name (also WESSON) 3. STROTHER is so well known, I probably don't need to say anything. " Book 0-0, p. 710 William HART, planter, & Sarah his wife, to THOMAS HOWELL, planter, both of Craven Co., for L 200 currency, 100 a. on N side Congaree River, bounding E on ARTHUR HOWELL & vacant land; N on vacant land; W on Hugh BUTLER & THOMAS HOWELL; according to grant from Gov James GLEN in Council Chamber, 15 May 1751. Witnesses: Daniel HOUGH, John LESTER, John MYRICK (see the above record). Before Stephen CREEL, J. P. Lease not proved. William HOPTON, Register."

Hi Fred, Be warned that the frontier people ventured into the wilderness faster than the counties could be expanded. It seems that when the land was outside recognized counties, the default seemed to be to use Craven County. You will even find plats recorded in Craven County that are in what is now North Carolina. The SC Archives in Columbia make a handy little booklet on the county changes that includes maps (The Formation of Counties in South Carolina).
