    3. Thanks to all the folks who offered & sent a transcribed copy of the early Bush River Baptist records today. It's just what I was looking for and I really appreciate your help ! BTW, it's too bad the old Coates forum that had a scanned original copy of this document has gone defunct now. It would interesting to see that document as well. HAPPY 4th ! I am hoping to find something on the Newberry list. Info. I have for my TEAGUE family came from another researcher of early Newberry, SC families from a few years ago. She states: "In 1807 James Teague was ordained a Baptist minister by Bush River Baptist Church, Newberry Dist, SC. His father, Joshua Teague (Rev. War Patriot), and family were also members there." She said there's an extant list of members of the early Bush River Baptist Church; also info. about early ordinations there; but couldn't find her copy. Any help with Rush River Baptist records would really be appreciated. As stated here earlier, I also have a GAUNTT line assos. with Newberry. A few years before the Revolution my 5Gr-GP- Joshua & Dorothy (Gauntt) Teague, mar. in Rowan Co, NC, and later fled to upper SC (Newberry) in 1763 with many others to escape ruthless Tory depredations (SEE: Regulators in Alamance Co, NC). Dorothy & her brother Israel Gauntt (f/o-Hannah) were also in this group who fled NC for SC. They had been 'dismissed' from Quaker fellowship in NJ, even before moving to NC, family lore says for their 'Rebel sympathies'. Their brother Samuel Gauntt also came to Newberry at this time, but he remained a Quaker, later moving back to NJ where other Quaker family members still lived. At the time they came to Newberry, I believe the Teagues (Joshua, his brothers & uncles) were all non-Quaker, and this is why I am looking so hard for the early church records for verification of Joshua & James Teague's membership there.
