    1. [SC-BUSHRIVERQUAKERS] Whitten Family in Newberry & Laurens Cos.
    2. Virginia Alexander
    3. My ancestor was John Whitten (also spelled Whiten), who made his will in Laurens Co., SC, 3 July 1828, witnessed by John F. Kern, Jr., Alfred A. Kern and John Frederick Kern, Sr. He named his chidren: Lyndsey Whitten,, John Whitten, Jr., Sally Henly, Anne Jacks, Fanny Ray and Susannah Kennedy. Executors were Lyndsey Whitten and Claxton Ray. John and his wife Pheby are buried in Phillip's Cemetery on Duncan's Creek. John had bought land on the creek from Robert Whitten in 1793. Is John the man of that name on the 1781 tax list of Washington Co., PA? And is he the John Whitten who was a Minute Man in S.C. during the American Revolution? Welcome correspondence on this family.
