Alice, I'm a direct line descendant of Thomas & Hannah (- -?- -) Minton, Sr. through daughter Rebecca who md. Samuel Morris, Sr. Thomas' father was Richard Minton, Sr., proven by Union Co., SC Deed Book F, pp.101-104: This indenture made 22 Dec 1798 between Thomas MINTON SR., and Hannah his wife of Union Co., SC and their daughter Elizabeth PEARSON and Thomas PEARSON her son of the same county. For the love and affection we have for our dtr. and her son, hath granted, conveyed, released a tract of land where she now lives, containing 100A, being part of the tract of 300A CONVEYED TO ME AND MY HEIRS, BY RICHARD MINTON MY FATHER AND CONVEYED TO HIM THE SAID RICHARD MINTON SENR. BY ABEL PEARSON JUNR. the original patenter, as in & by the said Deed of Conveyance bearing date the 20th Sep 1787, & by the said Richard MINTON SENR. to me the 28th of February 1794. The question is, were they Quakers before coming to SC? Thomas' father Richard is not listed in any Quaker records, and Thomas & family have not been found in any other Quaker records before this entry. Later records indicate the family was in PA (possibly Tinicum Twp., Bucks Co.) prior to moving to SC. You will find a great deal of info on the family in the Union Co., SC records. And I am now a Quaker after being a Lutheran (paternal side) for many years. Can anyone add to the info he has given me. Thanks. Alice M. Wald Samuel and Rachel Minton were the parents of Thomas Minton. Thomas Minton and Hannah Minton were married in 1761. They were the parents of Rebecca who married Samuel Morris Sr. in 1792 in Union County, SC. Rebecca's siblings were: Hannah 13 Oct 1762 Thomas(Jr?) 12 June 1763 (Only 8 months difference in age for Thomas and Hannah?) Richard 23 Apr 1765 (Died around 1810) Lydia 26 April 1766 M1 John Minton? M2. John Hopkins Mary 26 May 1767 Joseph 12 July 1768 Hanna or Sara 2 Feb 1770 M Nathan Cooper Margaret 28 Dec 1772 Elizabeth (Betty) 13 Oct 1777 Parthenia 9 Jan 1780 Rachel 6 Oct 1783 M Samuel Kennedy Richard, Rebecca, Elizabeth and Parthenia were disowned for marrying out of the faith. Best guess is the Minton's came from Great Ness, Shropshire, England some time in early 1700's or late 1600's.
