Marsha, Re your below, my Quaker Hawkins in PA went to Loudoun Co., VA (Fairfax MM) in the mid 1700s before coming to Bush River and Cane Creek MM. (from a book by my father - ".... when the family moved to SC. It is said that James and family lived in Loudoun Co., VA, long enough to find that it was a good place to starve, this was by the records about 12 years."). Phil, that is VERY interesting! I am really looking forward to looking at Loudoun County. I need to crank up my PC and pull out my Hinshaw Encyclopedia CD. By the way, I did find a few things in Newberry that I'll share as soon as I finish unpacking. I don't think that it is anything really new and wonderful .....but I'll be back in touch when I get caught up.
