    3. Hi again, I just went back to read the families buried in the cemetery and thought this might interest someone " The first burial in this place, according to the inscriptions on the grave-stones, was Lydia Hoover who died 14 April 1843, and the second was Nathan Coppock, who died 18 June 1843."

    3. Hi everyone, I am also a Coppock descendent so I do have Thomas and Edna Gilbert in my database but do not have much information on them. I do have that Thomas is buried in the Greenville Creek Cemetery which would be on Buckneck Rd in Bradford, Ohio. This is a Church Cemetery and is across the road from my sister's house. I checked out the online listing for the cemetery and they are the only Gilberts buried there but maybe some of the other names might give you some help. http://www.tdn-net.com/genealogy/cemetery/gvil-cem.htm Also, this is in Miami Co but it is so close to the Darke Co line that most families have relatives in both counties and a lot are from Bush River. My question is does anyone know who is the parents of Elizabeth Mast who married Thomas Coppock? I do not have parents for her and I also descend from John Mast Sr. 1740 and Barbara Harmon of Randolph Co NC and there are a lot of connections between these two communities. Vivian

    3. Hi Audrey, No, I hadn't heard about this Pool/Gilbert marriage. To be honest, I've never even encountered the Pool family before in Newberry research. It's a new name for me. I just checked census records, and "Mitchel Pool" was actually in Shelby Co., AL in 1830: Mitchel Pool - 1 male 20 - 30, 1 female 20 - 30, five young girls. By 1840, though, he's in Jefferson County with his growing brood. Assuming they married in Shelby Co. and not Jefferson Co., I checked for other Gilberts in Shelby County. and there were three households: William, Isaac, and Nathan. William was b. 1790 to 1800 while Isaac and Nathan were born 1800 to 1810. It would seem if Mary Elizabeth were related to any of them, she would be their sister. The 1820 Shelby County census shows only a William Gilbert living there then, and then also a William and John Pool. I know of one William Gilbert missing from the Newberry clan and he would have been born sometime in the 1790 to 1802 timeframe. The names Isaac and Nathan aren't familiar though. 3. Thanks Jane. Yes, I know when the POOLS left SC, and arrived in the various counties of AL. John POOL (RS) signed up for the Rev War from Newberry, but had land on Halfway Swamp, Edgefield, Saluda River. They were there but I've been watching these posts on the GILBERTS for some time now. We know for sure we have an O'NEAL connection. Our James Holloway POOL m. Mary ROWE, d/o Benjamin ROWE and Ruth O'NEAL, d/o Hugh O'NEAL of Newberry. 3. Thanks, Loren. I didn't find any Gilberts on the 1816 tax list there, but Thomas GIlbert was there by the 1820 census. I'm assuming that means they moved from Newberry Co. to Miami Co. sometime between those two dates, but don't know for sure. The Coppocks were there as early as 1810, though. 3. I have a Edna Coppock born circa 1797 in Newberry County, SC, the daughter of Thomas & Elizabeth Mast Coppock. Edna was the first born child and Jane was second with a sourced birthdate of 6 June 1799. The family bible of Thomas Coppock was the source listed. The bible was found in a flea market in California 8-10 years ago. I hope this is helpful. 3. Hello Kay, Yes I remember being in touch with you regarding the Inmans and some on the Coppocks as well. I think from your associated names, Martindale and Leavel, you must be even closer related to some others I've been in touch with, well at least one other and now her name eludes me. None of my direct Inman lines ever married into those two families, so I don't carry any Martindale or leavell blood in me. Only aunts, uncles or cousins married into those lines. I do have multiple Coppock blood lines and my paternal grandmother is an Inman and still alive at 94. She is Marguerite Elizabeth (Inman) Pearson Crowel. Her first marriage to my grandfather Ernest David Pearson is where the Pearsons in my direct line connected with the direct Inman line despite both their ancestors lived in Newberry SC together (Benjamin Pearson and Benjamin Inman) and both migrated to the Miami Valley of Ohio in the early 1800s, it was not until my grandmother and grandfather where married 28 Jan 1933 when the two lines finally merged. It's good to hear from you again. I believe the only reason I lost touch with you must be due to a change in e-mail address on your part? Of course mine has changed some too, but that would not have prevented me from reaching you if I had your current address. PS - we may have met at an Inman reunion in Ohio back in the 90s? 3. I'd say it's a misprint Jim, but it's no better than a guess of your own. I am an Inman descendant myself from SC. Benjamin Inman and Jemime Haworth to be exact. By the way have you ever seen the movie "Cold Mountain"?
