I am looking for information on my father's family. I have found his birth certificate on the net: i.e., Thomas Vander Sawyer, born Oct.1882, Auburn (Logan County), Kentucky: Father was Henry Americus Sawyer; Mother was Martha Jane (Mattie) Sawyer. According to letter my father wrote to me in 1962, before his death at 86 yrs. old in 1968, the following are his paternal Sawyers: 1. Henry (great-grandfather of my father's) moved to Kentucky, had son, Tom Sawyer (grandfather of my father's); Tom had son, Henry Americus Sawyer (my father's father). Henry Sawyer #1 ran away with his two brothers from Scotland to escape conscription by the English Army. They all settled in Mass. Two of the brothers remained in Mass. My father told me that, in his travels, he met some of their descendants; one was in the Lumber business in Springfield, Mass. and "looked enough like me to be my twin brother" (like my father, that is). The 3rd brother moved to Virginia, etc. Does this ring a bell with any Sawyers out there? I can remember only one cousin (daughter of my father's sister) - a Joy Barrick.
