Hi All, My goodness, my goodness-------there are a bunch of you Sawyer's lurking out there !!!! I recieved 23 emails in all----am going to try and answer them this way. When I saw "Jill's " date of 1613, I knew it was William Sawyer (of Newbury) who arrived in Salem, Mass. in 1642. My hubbie is a direct decsendant, and I have all kinds of data on the family, in fact till I got side track on other lines, I was gathering data on all his children and grand-children ( and yes Bud, there is a lot of proof !!) I ALWAYS like getting other Sawyer lineages, copy and file them. But, I know almost noting of the "Southern Sawyer's". For you that are related to William, try to go to Bosten, then Salem and pick up the trail of William as he went north, first to Wenham, then up to Newbury where there is a monument with his name on it, to West Newbury (get a map at Newburyport Historical Library-----where they have a painting of one of the Sawyer's)------go up to Sawyer's Hill Cemetary----------- Gosh, its such a wondiful history------ I went with my sister-in-law first------later years with my hubbie and friends-----so much to see. Keep in touch, Noni Sawyer of Palmdale, California
