Does anyone on this Board research or have info about Elkanah Sawyer, born ca 1777, in Edgefield, S.Carolina. He married Mariam Belk, born 1780. I have names for twelve children for this couple. Their son Wylie Sawyer, who married Sarah (Susan) Scroggin, moved to the area that is now Monroe County, Alabama, probably by 1818. I am trying to prove that my Robertson and Regan family were closely connected to Elkanah's family in Edgefield, S.Carolina. I have been told that they moved to Alabama together in a wagon train. I need documentation. There are several Elkanah Sawyers in this time period and they are difficult to keep straight. I have "my" Elkanah as the son of John Sawyer and Priscilla McPerhson?Keel Sawyer. John was born in Pasquotuck County, N.Carolina. I don't know when the family moved to Edgefield. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
