    3. Hi! I am wondering what the origins of the Sawyers are in Europe? Are all of the original Sawyers in New Hampshire from the same place? Did the Sawyers first settle in New Hampshire or did they settle somewhere else and migrate to New Hampshire? I see even in the 1790 census for New Hampshire there is almost one full column of Sawyers. Thank you for putting up with my ignorance, Have a wonderful day! Amy

    3. I am not sure about all NH Sawyers,,,but mine came from England, settled in MA,,,and then migrated to NH and ME. My line is as follows: Helen Jane(NH), Elbridge Gerry(NH), Elbridge Gerry(NH), Ezra(MA), Daniel(MA), Humphry(MA), Daniel(MA), Stephen(MA), William(Gainsborough England). If anyone connects to this line, please email me. I would be glad to share what I have on them. Brenda Nickerson Hensley ----- Original Message ----- From: "Amy J. 3. Hi. Amy I hope you accept this in the spirit that it is intended. And please do not think you are ingnorant. English surname came from several cateogories - georgraphic, occupational, titles, etc. My info is that maybe 70% of surnames came from geographiic locations. My surname is Lassiter, which comes from Leicester, England, Sort of a bastardized version. Sawyers were guys that worked with saws. So they were all over the place. Think of all the Sawyers, Carpenters, Wheelwrights, Wheelers, Joiners, Joyners, etc. etc. All occupations. My Sawyers are from the northeastern sector of North Carolina. Haven't gotten back past 1800 at best. Working on it. Good Hunting jay ----- Original Message ----- From: "Amy J.
