I recently purchased two wonderful OLD studio photographs at an antique shop in Geneva, IL. I enjoy buying lovely old pictures like these in antique shops and locating descendants or family members so that I can re-unite the pictures, for only my costs, with people who will treasure them. Dr. Sidney Sawyer's picture was taken by Sarony's Studio, on Broadway, in NYC, NY, in approx. 1880. He looks to be at least 70 yrs. old, and is a very distinguished looking gentleman, with somewhat balding gray hair and a mustache. On the back of this carte-de-vista 2-1/2" x 4" picture is: "BORN 11-12-1810" and "father of Ada Sawyer Garrett, whose mother was Elizabeth B." J. E. C. Sawyer's picture was taken a studio which appears to be Dhorton, 15-17 N. Pearl St. in Albany (Albany) NY. Picture was taken in about 1890, and he looks to be about 40-50 years old (my estimates). The picture is a Cabinet Portrait of 4-1/4" x 6-1/2" and on the back is "Yours sincerely (and his signature)". He is slightly balding, with medium dark hair, piercing eyes, and he is wearing a beard and a mustache. Each picture is an original (not a copy) on heavy cardstock, as was typical during that time period, and each is an original (not a copy).
