I am African American and found a good deal of info on the Sawyer family but it is about caucasians with the last name Sawyer. As far as I have been able to determine, my family originated in Virginia, apparently in the Norfolk, Portsmouth area. I am looking for anyone who may have had the name Sawyer that owned slaves in the area or has any info on black Americans named Sawyer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
