Each one was taken by a professional photographer and each is on heavy cardstock, as was typical during that time period. Each picture is in excellent condition and each man pictured is dressed in a suit, with both a beard and a mustache. Dr. Sidney Sawyer's picture was taken in NYC, NY, in approx. 1880. He looks to be at least 70 yrs. old. On the back of the 2-1/2" x 4" picture is: "BORN 11-12-1810" and "father of Ada Sawyer Garrett, whose mother was Elizabeth B." He is a very distinguished looking gentleman. J. E. C. Sawyer's picture was taken in Albany (Albany) NY, in about 1890, and he looks to be about 50 years old. The picture is 4-1/4" x 6-1/2" and on the back is "Yours sincerely (and his signature". I enjoy buying lovely old pictures like these in antique shops and locating descendants/family members so that I can re-unite the pictures, for only my costs, with people who will treasure them.
