R.Turpin officiating. Mr. Sawyer was born in Cookshire on August 13, 1870, the only son of Mr. Horace Sawyer and his wife , Mary Pennoyer. He was married in 1893 to Alice Taylor, of Cookshire, who survives him. Of this union there were three children-- Gordon of Cookshire, Berton,(sic)[Charles Burton Sawyer] of Toronto,Ont. and Hazel, Mrs. Hillhouse, of Cowansville. He is also survived by three sisters,Mrs. W.C.Bean, of Shawinigan Falls, Mrs. F.C. Barlow. of East Angus, and Mrs. F. Osgood of Cookshire;two grandchildren Charles Sawyer, Jr. of Toronto,Ont., and Evelyn Sawyer of Montreal. the hymns sung by the choir were,"Unto the Hills" and "The Lord's My Shepherd." The bearers were Messrs. Allie Pope. John French, Ernest Durmont, Everest D. Rousseau, James Darker and Kenneth Fraser. The floral tributes were numerous and beautiful and were silent tokens of the esteem in which he was held by his relatives and friends. Interment took place in the Cookshire Cemetery
