In the 1880 census of the township of Brighton, Marathon County Wisconsin, the following SAWYER family is listed. I believe this to be the family of my grandfather's first wife, Mary Sawyer. The Charles Sawyer below was born in 1869. OBITUARY THE STRATFORD JOURNAL, APRIL 10, 1947 CHARLES SAWYER Funeral Services for Chas. Sawyer, 77, of Stratford, who died at a Wausau hospital Sunday morning, where held Wednesday morning at St. Jos. Catholic Church, with the Rev. A. Fischer officiating and burial was in the parish cemetery. Mr. Sawyer was born December 8, 1869 at Appleton and had lived in Stratford the past 72 years. He was a mill worker for the R. Connor Company until 18 years ago.
