In the 1880 census of the township of Brighton, Marathon County Wisconsin, the following SAWYER family is listed. I believe this to be the family of my grandfather's first wife, Mary Sawyer. I have some information on the descendants of Mary and my grandfather Frank. My grandfather, Francis Hubert" Frank" Laessig born 30 March 1873 married Mary K. Sawyer born 22 Oct. 1873. She died 13 Aug. 1907. Mary was the daughter of Joseph Sawyer of the Webertown settlement north of what today is Stratford, Marathon County, WI.
