    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Sawyer Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/kRFBAIB/1453.2.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Thanks, Sharon, I will. I found the book this evening, and here (just for fun) is my Sawyer line: Edward5 Sawyer (b. 1767, Westbrook, ME, d. bef. 1807) Ezekiel4 (b. 1742, Falmouth, ME, d. 1828, Portland, ME) Edward3 (b. 1709, Gloucester, MA, d. aft. 1757, prob. ME) Isaac2 (b. 1684, Gloucester, MA, d. 1772, Falmouth, ME) James1 (and that part you know) Having "sped-read" the book (during the hour I had before the library closed), it does seem probable to me that James is the son of Edward. Considering he (James) fathered James as late as 1691, a birth year in the 1620s or 1630s would certainly be conceivable; and, given that Edward (one of the three original brothers) was born in 1608, it just makes sense that he would be one of the three children said to have come with Edward over to America. No proof, of course, but sometimes intuition and common sense really do point the way. Now onto the Sawyer story back in the Old World.... Thanks again for your help! -- David
