Jean was an unusual name in that area for the time. One of the people I did some e mail research with helped contribute to the first booklet on this John Sawyer and said there was no proof. He must have traveled back and forth between N.C. and maybe Norfolk Co. because they all had some very early headrights and received land for their transport....so maybe in fact this wife was not from the same area. I think John shows up in 1686 or so. I have a lot of records on these very first Sawyers but have not researched it in quite a long time. Arcell Sawyer
