Interestingly enough there were one or two William Sawyers in the Pasquotank area early late 1600s and early 1700s but can not place them with the original Sawyers in the area but they were "close" to the original Sawyer families but have found no documentation as to relationship. 3. Freeda there is absolutely no proof of a William Sawyer with a documented son, John, and I have researched in early Virginia pre 1680 and, early N. C. 1680s through 1730s. If you think about it...the date 1642 would put a supposedly William 90 years old when John Sawyer was born. Even if this was a grandfather still about 60 years off. There were William Sawyers around but none have been linked by any proof to this John Sawyer. 3. Bert, below are the names of the children as I have them. I have Priscilla adopted by her step-father Louis/Lewis Powell, who married Priscilla's mother Sarah Johnston after Samuel Keel died. John (1751-ca1821) Elkanah (ca1753-1815) George (1755-1835) Servility (ca1759-) Anselm (ca1762-1781) Deboney/Deborah (ca1766-) Lewis (ca1773-1839) Sarah (ca1775-) Cader (ca1777-ca1844) SInce I can find no reference to the name "McPherson," for now I am taking it out of my record. Stay in touch. There seems to be a number of reseachers working on this Sawyer family. I just wish I lived where I could get to records and documents. Fortunately, those who can are willing to share their work. Should you have any old family photos of them ( over 30 years old), you can scan them for free and post them at www.ancientfaces.com because that is where we put our od family photos. It doesn't cost anything to look either. I am updating the SMITH Family history. THANK YOU!

    3. I have not seen the documention of Priscilla as being named McPherson. There is documention in deed of Priscilla Keel receiving land in the will of her father. There is documention that she was married to a John Sawyer (often mispelled). I have not seen a McPherson name associated with this family. The children are documented in the will of John Sawyer in Edgefield, Dist. S.C. Do you have this information? IF this family goes back to Pasquotank, as many of the names associated with them go back to the Pasquotank, Bertie County area. I have found two records for an orphan John Sawyer in the Pasquotank area and one of those was born approx 1729, but no proof as yet that I know of either one is the John Sawyer who ends up in Edgefield Dist. E mail me privately if you like. There is a core group of people working on this line. searching3@nc.rr.com Thanks ----- Original Message ----- From: "Freda Noble" <tnoble@mcn.org> To: <SAWYER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, January 09, 2006 8:51 PM Subject: Re: [SAWYER] Fw: John Sawyer > Could we have a discussion of John and Priscilla Keel Sawyer and their > children on this List? > The info I have differs from what Jim gives in his letter below. 3. Could we have a discussion of John and Priscilla Keel Sawyer and their children on this List? The info I have differs from what Jim gives in his letter below. With so many people working on this family, I think there must be documented info about them. I have the following as their children: Children: John (1751-ca1821) Elkanah (ca1753-1815) George (1755-1835) Servility (ca1759-) Anselm (ca1762-1781) Deboney/Deborah (ca1766-) Lewis (ca1773-1839) Sarah (ca1775-) Cader (ca1777-ca1844) Was there a child "Leontine" as Jim gives in his list? Is it "Servility" or "Sevility?" Was Priscilla (Percilla?) a McPherson before she became a Keel and then married John Sawyer? Any discussion or info about these people would be greatly appreciated. 1. Thayer / Sawyer marrage around Boston, MA Circa 1800/1810
    2. Hi Listers, I have know for years that I may be a Thayer and a Sawyer through the marriage of William Sawyer and Lydia Thayer in or around Boston circa 1800. An Evelina Sawyer married a Thomas Atkinson circa 1832 at Cambridge and had a still born child and then Henryetta Evelina Atkinson who married Edwards Whipple Green of Westboro and Worcester. I have copied a note and a short family history as I see it. Can anyone Identify William Sawyer? Lydia Thayer? or their daughter, Evelina Thayer Atkinson or her husband, Thomas Atkinson? Thanks so much! Jon Normandin Burlington, Vermont >Hi Carol, We know that Thomas Atkinson and Evelina Sawyer filed marriage intentions at Cambridge, Ma. October 29, 1832. We know they had a still born male child July 22, 1833 We know that Henryetta Evelina Atkinson was born February 10, 1834 at Cambridgeport? Ma? VT? NY? We know that Evelina had a relationship with Alexander Lorimer and had 5 more children. Helen Alexander Jr. Isabella Emma E. William Sawyer all sir-named Lorimer We know that the parents of Evelina Sawyer are William Sawyer and Lydia Thayer. We know that Evelina's last born was named William Sawyer Lorimer. Maybe we should search locally instead of globally. In the 1830 head of family census I find Two Thayer Families in Cambridge: One William Sawyer lives in Waltham in 1830 and has daughters that fit into the age bracket of Evelina. Maybe I should be investigating the Sawyer and Thayer families to see if Evelina is a daughter and if anyone in those families can trace her to Thomas Atkinson. I will post a note to both family lists at rootsweb.com and see what happens. Best.
