    2. Never herd f this book by Fred Sawyer. What the name of the Tittle please.. Shannon Sawyer << I have been told that the main difference between her book and Fred Sawyer's is that Eleanor's book contains referenced sources wheras Fred's book does not and has a lot of unsubstantiated guesses and errors in it. I would never use the Fred Sawyer book for anything other than a guide for further research, not as a source for any genealogical data. >>

    3. Re Eleanor Sawyer's encyclopedic work, I hope someone can help with the "William of Reading" problem. A kind lister passed on to me the information that Eleanor Sawyer wrote that she could not determine the parentage of William Sawyer of Reading. He is my ancestor and I'm wondering if anybody has established a link between him and any of the other progenitors. William of Reading was born 28 Jan 1707/08 in Reading, Middlesex, MA; married Margaret Wood, b. 1707, on 6 Jan 1729/30 in Reading. Their son Jonathan, b. 1739, d. 5 March 1823, married Susannah Flint, b. 30 Aug 1741, d 12 Aug 1819 on 15 November 1764 in Westminster, Worcester, MA. Their son Jacob, b. 15 June 1772, d. 15 Jan 1852, m. Polly Rice, b. June 1778, on 25 Aug 1801 in Westminster, Worcester, MA. Their daughter, Mary Almira Sawyer, b. 13 September 1814, m. on 9 September 1835, my great-great grandfather , William Chamberlain Jackson. If anyone has solved the "William of Reading problem," I would love to hear from them. If anyone on this list has any Jacksons, I'd like to correspond with them, too. Thanks. My husband is descended from William Sawyer and Ruth Crookum/Crookham through their son, Edmund. I have searched for years for William's parents with no success. Do you know who they are? We are fortunate (?) enough to have 3 Sawyer lines in this familly. Haven't found a common ancestor as far back as 1790. The other 2 lines are 1. Mathias Sawyer married to Fannie Williams and possibly the son of Elisha. 2. Thomas Sawyer, wife unknown, but the father of Archibald (Civil War soldier). Thomas is possibly the son of Pharoah Sawyer and Dorothy Riggs. As you can see, we need all the help we can get. Thanks for any information you may have. 3. Hi Noni, I have been having a problem on my Sawyer side. My grgrgrandmother was Susan Sawyer born Montreal Que. but lived at the Hogansburg reservation after she was widowed. She had married an Andrew Warner of which I have nothing, he died and she remarried Frank Robideau. I think Frank may be a brother to my grgr grandfather Joseph Robidoux from Que Canada. Sorry I am talking about Susan being born like in 1824 time period. I constantly check and recheck the Upstate New York HOgansburg Reservation and Canada. She was the daughter of Joshua Sawyer and Laura Catherine Guy. Joshua's parents were Stephen Sawyer and Mary Scrutchfull. Stephen's father is still yet to be proven, but is thought to be David Sawyer of Tipton Co., IN. I don't have much on this Sawyer line. Jill Watters Rains
