In the 1850 census for Blount Co. is listed John Sawyer, wife Jinetta, and children Robert and Elizabeth. They are in west TN by 1870 and are buried there in Gibson County. 3. Hi Sally: The Thomas Sawyer 1616 I refer to never left New England after coming from England in 1636. He settled first in Ipswich and later became the village blacksmith in Rowley, MA. He married Mary Prescott and they had a large family reported to be of 14 children by some authors. He died in Lancaster MA in 1706. We have a photo of his gravestone as the lead photo on our Thomas Sawyer 1616 Family Research Center site. The Children's names are in Eleanor Grace Sawyer's book pp 165-16. I can provide a list of them if you do not have the reference book. 3. Hello Richard: Isaac P Sawyer 1810 - 1900 married in 1840 Susan E. Varnum b. 1822. The parents of Isaac were Manley Sawyer, 1786 -1870 and Nancy Farrington 1793 - 1862. This is a very brief outline of information about your Sawyer line contained in Eleanor Grace Sawyer's book "Sawyer families of New England 1636 - 1900." You may be interested to know that this Sawyer line is recorded back in time to Thomas Sawyer 1616, one of three Sawyer brothers who were immigrants to this country. A copy of the referenced EGS book would be of great value to you. 2. This Sunday, we travel to the Davis cemetery near the Fontana to join with other relatives in decorating the graves. Last year, we had Sawyers, Crisps, Stillwells, and Breedloves there. Also, the Fontana Dam draw down begins August 1st. It is the 5 year draw down for dam inspection and the lowest water will be about Thanksgiving time for two weeks. The water is so cold the houses and buildings are visible and well preserved under the water. If you are thinking of visiting this area, this year is the time to go. 3. No it isn't wild for the congress to discuss genealogy and the mother's maiden name any more than it would be for credit card companies to discuss it. Your credit card company does ask for that when you call about your account and yes, they could find that information on the genealogy of living people! It is scary. The solution would be for the credit card companies to ask a different question. Sylvia

The dates in the first Volume begin as early as 1650 and the dates in the third volume seem to go to about 1925. penny b
