I am the one who sent the message about Henry Sawyer. I am working on WebTV and I have been told that we can't get a virus. After all, I'm not using a computer, just the family TV set and a WebTV Box. My entire message and the original query showed up in my mail and it's fine. I have just tried to send a copy to [email protected] and it was returned with the message that the user is unknown. If you'll e-mail me with your street address, I'll drop a copy in the mail. Alice
--WebTV-Mail-21557-2947 Content-Type: Text/Plain; Charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit In answer to your question about siblings for Benjamin Sawyer, I have been given the following information: Henry Sawyer was one of the 4 original Sawyers in Pasquotank Co. in the 1697 Tax List. I understand there was a Will for Henry in 1728 He mentioned his wife, Sarah and his children Charles (m. Anne---?), Benjamin , Daniel (m. Mary--?), Caen,Tamer (m. Daniel Coen), Elizabeth (m. Edward Williams), Charity (m. Griffith Gray) and Susanna (m. ---?Williams). [The spouses names in brackets are from various other sources, not necessarily from Henry's Will.] For your information, Benjamin had 3 sons: Caleb, Ben Jr. and the James you mentioned. And James had Evan, (b. bef. 1792) Asa (b. bef. 1774), Tully (b. bef. 1792), Willis (b. 1756) and Lydia ,who might have been a daughter of James' 2nd wife, Sarah. Caleb, Willis and Tully were common names among the later Sawyers, so hard to pinpoint the right one. Hope this has been some help to you. --WebTV-Mail-21557-2947 Content-Disposition: Inline Content-Type: Message/RFC822 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit Received: from mailsorter-101-3.iap.bryant.webtv.net (209.240.198.120) by storefull-112.iap.bryant.webtv.net with WTV-SMTP; Sun, 30 Jul 2000 15:18:11 -0700 (PDT) Return-Path: <[email protected]> Received: from lists5.rootsweb.com (lists5.rootsweb.com [63.92.80.123]) by mailsorter-101-3.iap.bryant.webtv.net (8.8.8-wtv-d/ms.dwm.v7+dul2) with ESMTP id PAA15109; Sun, 30 Jul 2000 15:18:09 -0700 (PDT) Received: (from [email protected]) by lists5.rootsweb.com (8.10.1/8.10.1) id e6UMGnP20613; Sun, 30 Jul 2000 15:16:49 -0700 Resent-Date: Sun, 30 Jul 2000 15:16:49 -0700 X-Original-Sender: [email protected] Sun Jul 30 15:16:48 2000 Message-Id: <[email protected]> X-Sender: [email protected] X-Mailer: QUALCOMM Windows Eudora Light Version 3.0.5 (32) Date: Sun, 30 Jul 2000 17:09:02 -0500 Old-To: [email protected] From: Cheramie Breaux <[email protected]> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Subject: [SAWYER] North east NC Sawyers Resent-Message-ID: <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Resent-From: [email protected] X-Mailing-List: <[email protected]> archive/latest/512 X-Loop: [email protected] Precedence: list Resent-Sender: [email protected] I'm wondering if anyone has more information on this: Henry Sawyer b. 16?? d. 24 June 1728 wife: Sarah had a son Benjamin, b. before 1728. Hi Sharon: Although we are not researching your Caleb 1741 specifically, just wanted you to know that his line can be traced back in time to Thomas Sawyer 1616, born England d. 1706 in MA. This interesting line from Caleb 1741 back is: Caleb 1741 Caleb 1720 Jonathan 1690 Caleb 1659 Thomas 1616 ( One reference for this which does provide good source information is Eleanor Grace Sawyer's "Sawyer Families of New England 1636 - 1900." Hello, Can anyone help with the dilemma of who the parents of Mercy SAWYER born ca. 1800-1807, Saco, Maine, married William SANBORN, lived in Tamworth, N.H. They are said to have had six children, the names of three are proven, the other three I am sure of because of census but that is the only place I find them. One suspected son is Joel Sawyer Sanborn born 1821. Thought that might help narrow it down for Mercy but so far I have had no luck finding her in Saco/Pepperellborough, ME. records Thanks, Kitty

They were lving in Bangor, Franklin County, New York in the 1870 census. I believe that Ely (the younger) married Sarah A. Aldrich. I have Elijah's, Sr. birth year as 1833 or 34 and his death as about 1919 and he might be buried in a Malone, Franklin County, New York cemetery. ELIJAH's brother was FRANCIS and it's possible that their father was named FRANCIS also. The younger FRANCIS was my maternal great-grandfather. Thanks for any help available. I believe that both ELIJAH and FRANCIS were born in Canada. Thanks for any help anyone can give me.--Marilyn e-mail pf poster [email protected] Thanks list admin Sylvia
I am looking for any information on a Mary Sawyer. According to records her father was born in New Hampshire and her mother was born in Ohio. She was born sometime about 1840 in Ohio and died between 1884 and 1900 in Franklin County or Madison County, Ohio. Her family may have migrated to Illinois during the 1840s or 1850s as she married a John Ferguson in Sangamon County IL in 1859 and a William Doughty in Edgar County in 1870. Her and William moved bacl to Franklin County,Ohio, in 1871 where they had 4 sons Harry, Fred, Frank and Wray. I would appreciate any information or leads on who her parents may have been. Thanks.

Hi Fred What timing! I only joined this list a few days ago. Your reply to Richard caught my eye because I've been planning to submit the following to the list to see if someone could verify it. I received this from someone without attached documentation and sources so your reference to Eleanor Sawyer's book is an added plus. Can you or anyone else on the list tell me how valid the following is and fill in any gaps and/or provide any corrections? Does this line go back any further? Thanks very much! Scott Robinson Janesville, WI 1. John S. SAWYER was born Abt. 1582 in Lincolnshire, England, and died in Prob. Lincolnshire, England. 2. Thomas SAWYER (John S.) was born Abt. 1616 in Lincolnshire, England, and died September 12, 1706 in Lancaster, MA. He married Mary PRESCOTT 1648, daughter of John PRESCOTT and Mary GAWKROGER-PLATTS. She was born Abt. February 24, 1629/30 in Sowerby, England, and died Abt. April 1716 in Prob. Lancaster, MA. 3. Notes for Nathaniel WILDER: In the "New England Marriages Prior to 1700" by Torrey, Nathaniel Wilder is listed as being born in 1655. Savage's "Genealogical Dictionary" shows him as being born November 3, 1655. Clarence L. Rogers has the marriage between Nathaniel and Mary as occurring on November 4, 1673. Hi Scott: In addition to Eleanor G. Sawyers book which does provide sources, there are several others. (EGS was unable to prove a connection between John 1582 and Thomas 1616; (see preface to her reference book). Try this one for an unproved connection between John 1582 and Thomas 1616 as well as later generations: http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/l/u/n/Alan-P-Lundstedt/GENE75-0001.html Also check George Sawyer's site which states a connection with an earlier Edmund and Thomas Sawyer and following generations: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Bluffs/8841/ If you are interested in a group effort working on the Thomas Sawyer 1616 family descendants, check this URL also: http://msnhomepages.talkcity.com/NonProfitBlvd/rufret/TS1616.htm Fred Site Administration Thomas Sawyer 1616 Family Research Center MyFamily.com ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, June 14, 2000 6:10 PM Subject: [SAWYER] Thomas Sawyer - 1616 > Hi Fred > > What timing!
