--part1_6e.24f0fc8.26d16ac7_boundary Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit There must be some kind of connection of my William K. SAWYER to Elijah since they both came from Bangor, Franklin, NY. How big was Bangor anyhow? I've posted this before and communicated with Marilyn Echols (Junebug), but perhaps new members to the list can help us make some more connections. William K. SAWYER b. 7/5/1832, Bangor, Franklin, NY, d. 12/15/1912, Three Oaks, MI, s/o Phineas SAWYER and Jane KENNEDY. William K. married Sarah Augusta Seely, b. 6/2/1839 in Sodus, Wayne, NY, d/o William S. Seely and Margarett "Unknown" 1860-61 in Preston County, MN. It appears that the SEELY family and William K SAWYER moved to MN as both had farms in Preston. William K and Sarah had one son, Frank L. b 5/27/1861 in Fillmore, MN and another son William Glen b. 2/29/1872 in Three Oaks, Berrien. MI. It is unknown when William K. and Sarah moved their family to Michigan. Hope someone out there can make some connections with Marilyn's (Junebug) information and mine. He was shown on the 1870 census of Bangor, Franklin County, New York. He was listed as age 32, farmer, born in Canada. He was married to a Lamira, 26,housekkper, born in New York. Their children are listed: Elmer, 6, born circa 1864; Ely (short for Elijah?), 4, born circa 1866; Edson, 2, born circa 1868;and Edith, 8 months, probably born in either 1868 or 1869.. The Elijah listed first had a brother named Francis Sawyer whom I believe he was married to either a Mary Brothers or a Mary-Madeleine Brothers. Francis's children were Francis Allen (my maternal grandfather) and Mary. I have lots of information about Francis's line. On microfile #1292041, entitled "New York Cemeteries--Malone, Franklin County, New York" are these Sawyers: Sawyer, Eli, born 1866, died 1962 Sawyer, Sarah Aldrich, born 1872, died 1922 Sawyer, Elmer E., born 1964, died 1885 Sawyer, Lemira, born 11843, died 1924 (note in the census her name is spelled "Lamira" However, I had a maternal aunt that was named Lemira Irmina Sawyer so I suppose she could have been named after this person and the census taker mispelled the name) Sawyer, Elizah, born 1837, died 1919 Laura, born July 12, 1896, died August 08, 1896 Another thought: The Elizah listed above as being born in 1937 might have been my great-uncle Elijah or that person might have been a sister to Elijah and Francis. What do you think? Elizah's birth date doesn't cooincide with Elijah's so they may have been two different individuals. My Francis Allen Sawyer and his parents eventually migrated to Rush City, Minnesota and farmed there then immigrated to Rossendale, Manitoba and farmed there until sometime after his parents' deaths. The "ELY" named above married Sarah Aldrich. I guess it's possible that the Laura mentioned above could have been their daughter, but I am not certain of this. Let me know if anything abive connects with any of your research. Posted on: Sawyer Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/FamilyAssoc/Sawyer/190 Surname: Sawyer, Jewell ------------------------- I am looking for information on John Sawyer, father of Joseph Benton Sawyer. Joseph was born in Grandville, Michigan in 1845. John married Elsie Jewell in 1844. Also looking for Chancy/Chauncy Sawyer who is either the father or brother of John. Chancy also lived in Grandville.
Looking for the ancestors and children of Lydia LEE and her husband Uriah ROWLAND Sr. They were married 13 October 1737 at Lyme, Conn. Uriah was born 2 August 1712, Lyme, Conn. Lydia was born 2 March 1719, Lyme, Conn. I am especially interested in the names of their children, and whether they might have had a daughter Lucretia, born about 1750, who married Abner HUNTLEY, the son of William HUNTLEY and Martha SAWYER. Abner was born 24 January 1746, Lyme, Conn., died after 1832, Ontario, Canada. One source I have lists Lucretia's father as Uriah ROWLAND Sr. The only Uriah ROWLAND I could find that had a son named Uriah in Lyme, Conn., during this time period is the above named Uriah, the husband of Lydia LEE. Thanks, John Bogdal

Quilting is woman's way of preserving history. It may be from fabrics made from left over scrapes of the entire family in a simple design or sometimes in a very complex design. All beautiful, all sewn with love and like photos preserve a little about ourselves. I have collected quilts for years. I have found a place where those old time traditions are not forgotten. Sent by:[email protected] My name is Fanita Sawyer Burnett and I have just begun to research my ancestry. I am African American and found a good deal of info on the Sawyer family but it is about caucasians with the last name Sawyer. As far as I have been able to determine, my family originated in Virginia, apparently in the Norfolk, Portsmouth area. I am looking for anyone who may have had the name Sawyer that owned slaves in the area or has any info on black Americans named Sawyer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Four days later, he witnessed a second deed in which his brother Robert and Robert's wife, Anne, sold land along the Pasquotank to Caleb Sawyer (5). Truman acquired other land in the area, including 100 acres "lying on the NW side of the White Oak Branch" purchased from Charles & Anne Sawyer on 6 April 1739 (3). With Thomas Sawyer, Truman and his wife Tamer sold 50 acres to Daniel Sawyer for 40 shillings on April 10, 1739 (the land being out of an 850 acre patent granted to James McDaniel in 1738)(4) and 100 acres on the northeast side of both White Oak Branch and the Pasquotank to Richard Sawyer for 45 pounds on Apgil 18, 1741 (5). Given the language of these various deeds, it is possible that both Tamer and brother Robert Spence's wife, Anne, were daughters of Thomas Sawyer. It is interesting to note that Daniel Sawyer's 1749 will mentions a daughter named "Taymer" (6), who could have been named for Truman's wife. There is also some indication that Charles Sawyer's wife, Anne, was the daughter of John Spence and thus Truman's cousin. Children of CHARLES SAWYER and ANN PROVEN are: i. JOHN3 SAWYER. Hi, I have an Elijah Sawyer in my family line. Hoping we can find a link, Warm regards, Marilyn Bennett Echols

Posted on: Sawyer Queries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/Sawyer?read=175 Surname: SAWYER ------------------------- Does anyone know of an Eli Sawyer who was in Iowa around 1862? I am searching for the family line of Florence Sarah Sawyer who was born in 1862 in Jefferson County or Township, Iowa. I only know that her father was Eli Sawyer. Mother's name is also unknown. I have no other info. to connect her to a Sawyer line. I do know there was an Eli Sawyer who enlisted in the Union Army from Madison Township, Iowa in 1862. He was wounded and discharged in Missouri the following year. Florence married a Jefferson Quertermous in Clark County, Missouri in 1880. Florence died around 1939 in Kiowa, Kansas. During their marriage, she and Jefferson lived in Missouri, Colorado, Oklahoma and Kansas. If anyone can help me with a lead, please e-mail to [email protected] Thank you
