Posted on: Sawyer Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/FamilyAssoc/Sawyer/253 Surname: Sawyer, Beckwith, Hall, Taft ------------------------- My Sawyers lived in St. Paul, Deluth, and Blackduck. The earliest Sawyer is Phineas. I think his line came over on the Mayflower. The youngest Sawyer is in his late 50s. Phineas was married in 1884 to Ann Beckwith. They had Fredrick, Clarence Harry, and Nellie Abby. Fredrick married Estelle who had Verling Grant, Dolly Lois and Clarence Harry. Verling married Mary Beckwith (cousin) and had Thomas Grant, Betty Ann (who married James Legans) and Fredrick Michael. Thomas Grant had no issue.

I'm trying to find more about my husband's family. Hubby's grandfather was Ivy Jerome Sawyer and his grgrandfather was Samuel Overman Sawyer. I am assuming that the Overman was Samuel's mother's maiden name, but haven proved it yet. Ivy died in Marion Co, Oregon in 1966 and was born Sep 13 1885 in Horton Indiana. Hi Gang, Here's some answer's to all. SAWYER HILL is just west of the town of Newburyport.---- It is lovely hill and cemetary, with a lot of our early Sawyer's buried there. The oldest grave we found was Lt. Samuel Sawyer who died 11 Feb, 1718 at the age of 72 years.--------------------I have a copy of a old map that shows where most of the settlers lived, and when I got home, (here in Palmdale, Calif.), I found that the road that runs by this Hill, going west, past the creek and old bridge that was in ruins, was the place of the first William Sawyer's home----and we miss it !!! My hubbie lineage is this; William Sawyer b. 1613 d. 1702-----2nd Lt. Samuel Sawyer b. 1645 ----3rd Samuel Sawyer-----4th Edmond Sawyer---5th Joseph Sawyer-------6th Joseph Sawyer and with 7th John Sawyer, who was born in Newport, N.H in 1771 the Sawyer's begin their western migration------ending here in California just prior to WW2. Allan the new Sawyer lineage is from "Bitfied Sawyer"----which is very interesting. I had copied from a old history from a hand-written book some of this lineage, found it mentioned that they think that our first William Sawyer may have been from the family of " Wil Sawyer" radicals of Cromwells days in England. Ok----I'm off to a square dance ! Noni Sawyer
